Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
All guides will be available on our YouTube channel and Empire Build Academy website, alongside other strategy games like Evony, King of Avalon, and Age of Empires Mobile. Let’s get started with Guns of Glory!
Starting a New Account
For this guide, I’m starting fresh on a new server (Kingdom 985, version 11.22.0) to ensure an authentic beginner experience. Here’s how to create a new account:
Click your profile icon (top-left corner).
Go to Settings (bottom-left).
Select Accounts.
Click New Game and choose a server (e.g., 985 or 986).
Tip: Pick a newer server for a less competitive environment, as older servers may have established players. You can test multiple servers without needing separate accounts, which is great for finding the right fit.
Early Gameplay and Story Mode
Guns of Glory kicks off with cinematic cutscenes introducing the Lost Island storyline and your character, the Iron Mask. While I skipped most cutscenes for brevity, I recommend watching them initially to enjoy the narrative.
The game guides you through Chapter 1: Trouble at the Docks, introducing core mechanics:
Construction: Build defensive walls and key structures like the Shooting Range.
Recruitment: Visit the Tavern to recruit generals like Captain Treval (A-rated, useful early but less so later).
Battles: Fight enemies with your general and troops, such as in the All for One mini-game.
Resources: Collect and manage resources to train troops like Huntsmen.
Key Feature: The Airship, a unique unit (unlike dragons in similar games), supports battles and can be upgraded for stronger buffs.
The game’s intuitive interface, with clear task guides and green arrows, makes early progression straightforward. Chapters 1–6 are designed as a tutorial, walking you through essential tasks.
Progressing Through Early Chapters
Here’s a quick overview of the chapters covered:
Chapter 1: Trouble at the Docks: Recruit Captain Treval, train Huntsmen, and win your first battle.
Chapter 2: Mystery of the Mask: Upgrade the Academy for research and play the All for One mini-game to fire cannons at enemy ships.
Chapter 3: Revival: Unlock and repair the Airship Engine.
Chapter 4: Repair the Airship’s Cannon and Envelope, and upgrade the Castle to level 3.
Chapter 5: Counter Strike: Build a Stable to train Mounted Musketeers, heal wounded soldiers in the Hospital, and defeat a Pirate Captain in All for One.
Chapter 6: Heart of Darkness: Upgrade the Castle and appoint guards to reduce resource costs (e.g., 192,000 food).
Chapter 7: Onward March: Build a Military Tent, upgrade the Shooting Range to level 4, and kill higher-level threats.
Pro Tip: Use free speed-ups early to bypass short timers (e.g., 20 seconds for Castle upgrades). Save resources and avoid spending unless necessary, as early offers can be tempting but wasteful.
Key Mechanics and Strategies
Research at the Academy
The Academy is your research hub, offering buffs in four areas:
Development: Boosts construction and research speed (e.g., +1% construction speed).
Economy: Enhances resource production.
Defense: Improves defensive capabilities.
Combat: Strengthens troops.
Strategy: Prioritize Development and Economy research early to accelerate growth. Save Defense and Combat for later, as early-game fighting is minimal, and servers often start with a relaxed phase for building.
Airship Upgrades
The Airship is a powerful asset. After repairing its Engine, Cannon, Envelope, and Hull, you can:
Deploy it in All for One battles to target weak spots and win faster.
Upgrade components (e.g., level 1 cannon) for better buffs.
Tip: Collect rewards from battles to enhance the Airship, boosting its effectiveness in future fights.
Mini-Games and Battles
The All for One mini-game involves firing cannons at enemy ships, targeting weak spots to reduce their power bar. It starts easy but grows challenging as enemy buffs increase. Use the Airship to speed up victories.
World Threats: Access the Kingdom (bottom-right) to fight monsters (e.g., level 1–3 threats). These battles yield rewards and are essential for chapter tasks.
Joining an Alliance
Alliances are critical for growth. Benefits include:
Help with Construction: Alliance members can reduce build timers.
Monster Rallies: Join stronger players to earn better rewards.
Gold Rewards: Earn gold for joining an alliance.
Strategy: Aim for top alliances like Wolfpack (2.8B power) or FSG (1.4B power), but you’ll need at least 1M power and Castle level 5. My account reached 607,000 power and was upgrading to Castle level 5, so I’m close! Progress through chapters to meet these requirements.
Renaming Your Lord
Change your default name (e.g., Lord #7822) to something recognizable (I used Favian@TA). Top alliances often require personalized names, signaling active players.
The 99p Pack: Worth It?
In Chapter 6, a 99p first top-up pack appeared, offering:
Airship upgrades
10-hour normal speed-ups
18-hour construction speed-ups
Additional resources
Why Buy?: Labeled as a £134 value (exaggerated), it’s still a great deal for 99p, accelerating early progress and aiding chapter completion. I purchased it, but recommend avoiding other packs until you understand the best options (covered in future guides).
Future Content: Look out for our Advanced Guns of Glory series, covering the best and worst packs, top generals, and more!
First Impressions of Guns of Glory
Guns of Glory impresses with:
Engaging Mini-Games: All for One is fun and strategic.
Unique Airship: A fresh twist on traditional game mechanics.
Clear Tutorial: Guided tasks make it beginner-friendly.
Vibrant Graphics: Cutscenes and story mode enhance immersion.

TROOPS - A BEGINNERS GUIDE
Training Troops
There are 5 buildings relevant for training troops. Barracks, Stables, Shooting Range and Artillery Foundry are the building where you can give your assignments to train troop. The level of the buildings influence which troops you can train, the higher tier, the better the troops.
Barracks train infantry troops
Stables train cavalry troops
Shooting Range trains archers
Artillery Foundry trains siege
What defeats what?
In all the empire build style of games I've played, they've all followed the same route for what defeats what when it comes troops. This game is no different and is as follows:
Infantry beats Cavalry and loses to Archer
Archer beats Infantry and loses to Cavalry
Cavalry beats Archer and loses to Infantry
Each is associated with a troop type, Infantry, Cavalry, Distance and Artillery.
The Military Tents influence how many troops you can train and your troop training speed.
For each Military Tent you have for each level the Troop Training Speed increases with 0.5%, so it is important to build many and upgrade all of them as long as you have sufficient space, later on you might want to break down some of them and replace them with resource buildings.
For a more detailed overview of the troops section, head over to the troops section of this guide.
Note: This guide is purely hypothetical and created for player guidance. The ideal strategy of construction can vary from player to player, keeping in view their gaming style.
