Getting Started with Rise of Kingdoms

I’m using the PC version (sound muted to avoid startup noise) and starting fresh. The game offers various civilizations with unique buffs—infantry defense, march speed, food gathering, etc. After some time away, I’m aiming for a construction or research boost. Egypt catches my eye with:

5% archer attack

5% rallied army damage

1.5% building and research speed

Research speed at 3% is tempting, but I’ll stick with Egypt for its early-game edge. You can switch civilizations later, so flexibility is key.

Early Progression

We’ve upgraded the wall and city hall. The left-side quest panel shows completed tasks (present icons) and upcoming ones. I’ll claim rewards and focus on the main quest next, tackling side quests as they align. Let’s build an archery range via the construction hammer—movable within your keep for organization (I’ll tidy later). Training troops here also ticks off mini-tasks.

Building and Upgrading

  • Lumber Mill: Added to the builder’s queue.

  • Farm: Upgraded to level 2 (5 seconds).

  • Hospital: Upgraded to level 2.

  • Lumber Mill: Upgraded to level 2.

  • Scout Camp: Upgraded to level 2.

  • Tavern: Upgraded to level 2 (used a speed-up—common 99p temptation in these games).

Rise of Kingdoms eases you into the game quickly, a standout feature. Upgrades like the stable (level 2), 20 cavalry units, and a second farm (level 3) flow fast. The lumber mill to level 4 and barracks to level 3 follow, using speed-ups efficiently. The game encourages rapid progress—perfect for a “finger-clicking exercise” early on.

Mini-Games and Commander Growth

The Path of Vengeance mini-game unlocks—quick deploy with heroes, using skills to win. Clearing stage 1 is done. I level a commander to 5 with XP, upgrade unique skills (e.g., M hotup sculpture), and explore the talent tree (1% archer attack boost). I spread points across archer, garrison, and support initially, holding off on heavy investment until I know which commanders shine.

Advanced Tasks

  • Stable: Built.

  • Archery Range: Upgraded to levels 2 and 3.

  • Scout Camp: Upgraded to level 3 for auto-exploring fog (daily limit applies).

  • Quarry: Built and upgraded to level 4.

  • Hospital: Upgraded (10 seconds).

  • City Hall: Upgraded to level 6 to enter the Bronze Age (20 minutes), unlocking siege units and alliances.

Alliances and Interface

Joining an alliance is tricky—Rise of Kingdoms alliances are picky, often booting low-power players fast. I renamed to “Favian” (no spaces) and applied to top alliances (9.7M–10M power), but got declined. Smaller alliances might be safer initially. The top-left gold coin offers rankings (unlocked at level 8) and a gameplay guide—check map actions, damage types, and buffs/debuffs. PC controls (e.g., V for VIP) are handy shortcuts.

Next Steps

I’ll fast-forward off-screen to boost city hall levels, unlocking buildings for Part 2 and the construction guide. This intro gives you a feel for Rise of Kingdoms’ mechanics—graphics are solid, and progression is smooth. Share your thoughts in the comments, and subscribe for Part 2—see you soon!

  2. Construction Guide

  3. Research Guide

  4. Troops Guide

  9. FAQ

After completing these videos and blog posts on empirebuildacademy.com, you’ll have the knowledge to excel in Rise of Kingdoms. Let’s jump in!

Exploring Rise of Kingdoms Part 2

We’re using the PC version, which looks different from Part 1 due to progress and added features. A key highlight is the cityscape editor—access it via the hammer icon under buildings. This tool offers templates like Dark Age or Iron Age layouts. I prefer the Iron Age official layout for its simplicity, but you can explore community designs in the community tab. Select your layout, save it in a slot, and confirm—mine matches my previous setup.

Managing Quests and Daily Objectives

On the left, quests list completed tasks (gift icons) and new ones. Claim rewards individually or via the map—your choice, though there’s no “claim all” for side quests. Daily objectives offer chests, including a golden key for the last task. I’ll start gathering (boosted by an hour-long item from the bag icon) to complete this, unlocking wood, stone, gold, and food boosts. The Sunset Canyon challenge (two attempts) and other campaigns (unlocking at city hall level 16 or kingdom day 16) are next on my list.

City Organization and Alliance War

My city is now organized: resource points on the left, hospitals and the academy on the right, plus an ongoing alliance war against Junior Loha Elise. I recall my gathering march from the alliance granary, preparing to join the battle. The alliance tab (bottom) shows war details and requirements (250k power for R3, which I exceed thanks to early packs). Expect bigger builds and power in the construction and research guides.

Interface Breakdown

  • Top Left (Power: 397,276): My profile shows action points, civilization, alliance, and kill points. More info reveals building, tech, and troop power (all D-rated), with 96.7% kingdom outranking. Rankings need 1.5M power for top 100—my 397k is modest.

  • Items (Bag Icon): Packed with resources, speed-ups, and boosts. I bought the 30-day Supply Depot pack (2,200 gems upfront, 650 daily), a solid starter. The Growth Fund (VIP5+) is worth considering, but I’ll cap at £30-40, unlike whales spending £1,000/month.

  • Achievements: Unlock tasks (e.g., Dark Age entry) with completion percentages—0.7% hit 1.5M power (top 100).

  • Settings: Adjust notifications, customizations, and emojis. Join communities (Reddit, Discord, etc.) and redeem 10-digit codes from social media.

  • Commander View: Unlocks drill master at 500k power. Level up commanders (e.g., Minamoto to 27) with talents (0.5% defense boost).

  • Gameplay Guide: Covers marches, map actions (gather, teleport), alliance features, damage types, and buffs/debuffs.

  • VIP Levels: VIP4 offers 5% research/training speed; SVIP (level 20) is elite.

World and Bottom Icons

  • World Map: My march returned—joining a rally (50s ETA) with potential rewards.

  • Chats: World, kingdom, and alliance tabs plus private messages and settings.

  • Path of Vengeance: Ongoing (1 day 2h left); quick wins (1.1M vs. 469k power) yield minor rewards.

  • Daily Action Points: Claim 500 (if under stamina cap) for extra boosts.

  • Alliance: View wars, territory (e.g., center fortress), tech donations, gifts, and shop.

  • Mail: Read and claim rewards.

Pro Tips for Success

  • New Kingdoms: Avoid old servers with buffed players—start fresh to avoid catch-up.

  • Heroes: The Markswoman is great early for barbarians but fades later. Hold off on heavy leveling until you identify keepers (e.g., via alliance input).

  • Alliances: Join early for help, but beware of quick boots if power lags (top 100 is 0.7%).

  • Attacks: Troops lost in attacks are permanent—severely wounded need hospital space or they die.

  • Daily Activities: Complete tasks for chests and rewards.

  • Tavern: Grab six free chests daily.

  • Utilization: Keep builders, troops, and research active to avoid speed-up costs.

  • Events: Engage in all (e.g., 80/80 chests claimed, aiming for 1M power in 24h).

  • Research: Focus on economic boosts (gathering, construction) early—military can wait.

  • Farm Accounts: Optional multi-accounts for resources, but taxing (I stick to one).

  • VIP: Boost levels for buffs, but £10-20 won’t cut it for top ranks—spending scales high.

Final Thoughts

Rise of Kingdoms is intense—players take it seriously, and alliances are ruthless. My £30-40 spend puts me far from the top 100 (1.5M power). Next, I’ll combine construction and research guides, then dive into attack and defense. Thanks for watching—like if this helped, and see you soon!

TROOPS - A BEGINNERS GUIDE

A Beginner's Guide to Troops on the Game Rise of Kingdoms

Introduction

Are you a beginner diving into the exciting world of Rise of Kingdoms? As a strategy game enthusiast, you'll soon find yourself at the forefront of epic battles, where your choice of troops will determine your success. In this beginner's guide, we'll walk you through the essential aspects of troops in Rise of Kingdoms, empowering you to make informed decisions and lead your armies to victory.

The Basics: Understanding Troop Types

Before diving into the nitty-gritty details, let's start with the basics. Rise of Kingdoms offers a diverse set of troop types, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Familiarizing yourself with these troop types will allow you to create balanced armies capable of tackling any situation.

Infantry: These brave soldiers form the backbone of your army. With their exceptional defence and resilience, infantry troops excel at absorbing enemy attacks.

Archers: Skilled in ranged combat, archers rain down deadly arrows upon their foes. They provide excellent support from a distance, but their defence may be lacking compared to other troop types.

Cavalry: Mounted warriors with speed and power, cavalry troops deliver devastating charges that can turn the tide of battle. However, they are more vulnerable to certain infantry formations.

Siege Engines: When it comes to breaking down walls and fortresses, siege engines are your go-to troops. They excel at destroying enemy defences but are rather weak in direct combat.

Training and Upgrading Troops

Now that you understand the different types of troops, let's delve into training and upgrading them. In Rise of Kingdoms, you have the ability to unlock and train various troop types as you progress. Here's a step-by-step guide to get you started:

Acquiring Troops: Troops can be recruited in the game's training grounds. Each troop type requires specific resources and training time. Start by training a balanced mix of troops to create a versatile army.

Upgrading Troops: As you progress, you can enhance your troops' capabilities through research and technology advancements. Focus on upgrading their attack, defence, and health attributes to maximize their effectiveness on the battlefield.

Commanders and Skills: Troops in Rise of Kingdoms are led by commanders, each with unique skills and talents. Pairing the right commander with the appropriate troop type can significantly boost their performance. Experiment with different combinations to find the perfect synergy.

Building a Balanced Army

Now that you have a grasp of troops and their training, it's time to build a well-rounded army. Creating a balanced army composition is essential for success in Rise of Kingdoms. Here are some crucial factors to consider:

Understanding Formations: Arrange your troops in formations to optimize their effectiveness. Certain troop types counter others, so ensure your composition takes advantage of these strengths.

Specialization: Determine the objective of your army. Are you looking to conquer enemy cities or defend your own? Adjust your troop composition based on your strategic goals.

Support Units: Don't forget to include support units in your army. These can be troops that provide healing, enhance your troops' abilities, or increase your overall march speed.

Battling and Strategies

With your balanced army ready, it's time to unleash them on the battlefield. Here are some battle strategies and tips to help you emerge victorious:

Scouting: Before engaging in battles, send out scouts to gather information about your enemy's composition and strength. This will allow you to tailor your strategy accordingly.

Choosing the Right Target: Select your battles wisely. Engaging enemies with a significantly stronger army may result in unnecessary losses. Assess your odds and selectively attack vulnerable targets.

Coordinated Attacks: Coordinate your attacks with allies. Combined forces can overwhelm even the most fortified opponents, giving you a better chance at victory.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You now possess the fundamental knowledge to navigate the world of troops in Rise of Kingdoms. Remember to adapt your strategies and troop composition based on your objectives, and never stop exploring new tactics. With time, experience, and a dash of creativity, you're bound to become a formidable commander in this captivating game. So, assemble your troops, forge alliances, and conquer the realm of Rise of Kingdoms!
