Key Evony Buildings Explained
Subordinate Cities
Unlock the power of Subordinate Cities in Evony: The King's Return with this concise guide from my Learn Evony in Minutes series. Dive into the Subordinate City feature, a mini-empire within your keep, offering six tiers—common, uncommon, rare, legendary, epic, and famous—each delivering unique buffs like troop attack (+8%) and training speed (+15%) specific to that city. Advance your rank via the Shrine (e.g., Juke rank unlocks 9 cities, Arch Duke 10) by offering resources to climb rankings—top 40 for Juke, top 10 for Arch Duke—tracked in the Ranking tab. Assign generals like Hojo, equipped with debuffs (e.g., -48% enemy attack), to enhance defense, though buffs apply only to Subordinate City troops. Acquire these cities by conquering NPC territories or entering biweekly raffles with Subordinate City Clues (non-payers face low odds, e.g., 0.01% with 17 clues), as server-friendly norms discourage player attacks.
Warehouse
Welcome to another installment of the Learn Evony Minute series from Empire Build Academy! In this guide, we’re diving into the Evony Warehouse, a critical building for safeguarding your resources in the popular strategy game Evony. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting, understanding how to utilize the Warehouse effectively can make or break your empire. Let’s explore its features, upgrades, and the role of Duty Generals to ensure your resources stay safe from enemy attacks.
What is the Evony Warehouse?
The Warehouse in Evony is your go-to building for protecting resources like food, wood, stone, and ore from being plundered during enemy attacks. When opponents raid your city, any unprotected resources are at risk of being looted. Upgrading your Warehouse increases the amount of resources that remain secure, giving you peace of mind even during intense battles.
Why Upgrade Your Warehouse?
Upgrading your Warehouse is essential for maximizing resource protection. For example, at Level 36, the Warehouse protects 100 million resources across all types. Bump it up to Level 37, and you’ll see a significant jump to 120 million resources protected—a 20% increase!
Higher levels mean more resources stay safe, allowing you to focus on building your empire without worrying about losses.
To check your Warehouse’s protection stats:
Click on the Warehouse in your city.
Select Options to view available actions.
Tap Information for a detailed breakdown of protected resources at each level.
The Role of Duty Generals in the Warehouse
In Evony, assigning a Duty General to your Warehouse can provide additional buffs to enhance its effectiveness.
While we’ll cover Duty Generals in-depth in a future guide, here’s a quick overview of their impact on the Warehouse:
What is a Duty General?
A Duty General is a hero assigned to a specific building, like the Warehouse, to boost its performance. For example, assigning a Senior Warehouse Officer like Louie (as shown in the game) grants extra buffs, even if they aren’t specialized for the Warehouse.
Buffs and Requirements: A Senior Warehouse Officer provides superior buffs compared to a Medium Warehouse Officer. To assign one, the General must have a Defense of 1,150 and an Attack of 1,100. Check the Change menu to see available Generals and their buffs.
Choosing the Right General: The game lists potential Generals you can assign, with Super Generals offering the best buffs. Experiment with different Generals to optimize your Warehouse’s performance.
How to Maximize Your Warehouse’s Protection
To make the most of your Warehouse in Evony, follow these tips:
Prioritize Upgrades: Regularly upgrade your Warehouse to increase the amount of protected resources. The higher the level, the safer your stockpile.
Assign a Duty General: Even a non-specialized General like Louie can provide useful buffs. Aim for a Senior or Super Warehouse Officer for maximum benefits.
Monitor Resource Levels: Keep an eye on your resource totals to ensure they stay within the Warehouse’s protection limit. Excess resources are vulnerable to looting.
Why the Warehouse Matters in Evony
In summary, the Evony Warehouse is a simple yet vital building that protects your hard-earned resources from enemy raids. By upgrading the Warehouse and assigning a capable Duty General, you can significantly reduce losses during attacks, giving you a strategic edge.
Whether you’re defending against rival players or stockpiling for a big push, a well-maintained Warehouse is key to thriving in Evony’s competitive world.
Barracks
Welcome to another quick guide from Favian’s Learn Evian Minutes! Today, we’re diving into the Barracks, a key building for training infantry or ground troops in your strategy game. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, understanding how to leverage the Barracks can give you a competitive edge. Let’s explore its features, upgrades, and strategic benefits to optimize your gameplay.
What is the Barracks?
The Barracks is your go-to building for training ground troops, a vital troop type with a battle advantage over ranged troops. Upgrading your Barracks unlocks new types of ground troops and provides powerful buffs to enhance your army’s performance. For example, at level 37, the Barracks grants an additional buff that boosts your infantry’s capabilities.
Key Features of the Barracks
Train Ground Troops
The Barracks is where you train your infantry units. However, training is unavailable during certain upgrades, such as when your castle is leveling up (e.g., to level 37). Once the upgrade is complete, you can access the Train option to build your ground troop roster. For instance, selecting a unit like the Archer allows you to train troops efficiently.
Troop Information and Management
Clicking the Information tab in the Barracks provides a detailed breakdown of:
Troop Power: Understand the strength of each unit.
Troop Buffs: Discover bonuses that enhance performance.
Dismiss Troops: Remove unwanted units to optimize your roster.
You can also view how many of each troop type you currently own, helping you strategize effectively.
Level-Based Unlocks and Buffs
Upgrading your Barracks unlocks new ground troop types and additional buffs. From level 36 onward, you gain access to exclusive bonuses that significantly improve your infantry’s combat effectiveness. Check the More Information section to see which troops unlock at each level and the buffs tied to higher Barracks levels.
Enhancing Your Barracks with Duty Officers
The Barracks isn’t just about training troops—it also supports Duty Officers, specialized generals who provide extra buffs to your infantry. Assigning a Duty General to your Barracks enhances your ground troops’ performance. Stay tuned for our upcoming guide on Duty Generals, where we’ll cover how to obtain them, their roles, and how to assign them effectively.
Unlocking the Power of Blazons
Another critical feature of the Barracks is the Blazon system, which deserves its own in-depth guide due to its complexity. In brief, Blazons offer six unique elements (three on the left, three on the right) that provide additional buffs to your troops. Completing a set, such as the Sacrifice Set, grants even more powerful bonuses. Stay tuned for our detailed Blazon guide to master this system and maximize your Barracks’ potential.
The Smelter: Crafting Blazon Crystals
The Smelter, a related building, plays a crucial role in enhancing your Blazons. Here, you can smelt Blazons to obtain Blazon Crystals, which are essential for cultivating Maxle Blazons. If you smelt a cultivated Blazon, you’ll receive crystals based on its cultivation progress. This process is key to strengthening your infantry and unlocking advanced gameplay features.
Why the Barracks Matters
The Barracks is the heart of your ground troop strategy. Whether you call them infantry, ground troops, or simply troops, this building is where you:
Train your units to build a formidable army.
Access detailed information to strategize effectively.
Dismiss troops to refine your roster.
Enhance your forces with Duty Officers and Blazons.
By upgrading your Barracks and utilizing its features, you’ll gain a significant advantage in battles, especially against ranged troops.
Archer Camp
Welcome to Empire Build Academy! In this guide, we’ll dive into the Archer Camp in Evony, a key building for training powerful ranged troops. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, understanding how to optimize your Archer Camp can give you a strategic edge in battle. Let’s explore its features, upgrades, and benefits to help you dominate the battlefield. What is the Archer Camp in Evony?
The Archer Camp is where you train ranged troops, a critical unit type in Evony that excels against mounted troops. Upgrading this building unlocks new tiers of ranged units, boosts their stats, and enhances your army’s combat effectiveness. With the right strategy, your ranged troops can turn the tide in any battle.
Key Features of the Archer Camp
1. Training Ranged Troops
The Archer Camp allows you to train various tiers of ranged troops, from basic units to elite forces like the T14 Winter Palace Archers (unlocked at level 35).
Each troop tier has specific resource requirements, including gold and other materials, which you can view in the training menu.
Training capacity and duration are also displayed, helping you plan your army expansion. For example, training 22,028 T14 Winter Palace Archers takes a set amount of time based on your camp’s level and buffs.
2. Combat Advantages
Ranged troops have a 20% damage bonus against mounted troops, making them a key counter in battle.
However, they are vulnerable to ground troops, which deal 20% additional damage to ranged units. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for effective army composition.
3. Upgrading the Archer Camp
Upgrading your Archer Camp unlocks higher-tier ranged troops and provides buffs, such as +5% ranged troop defense at certain levels.
Check the “Details” tab to see which troop tiers unlock at each level and the corresponding buffs.
4. Duty General Officer
Assigning a Duty General (like John of Portugal) to your Archer Camp grants additional bonuses, such as increased training speed or enhanced troop stats.
Stay tuned for our dedicated Duty General guide for more details on optimizing this feature.
5. Blazons and Smelter
Blazons are customizable elements that provide individual and set-based buffs to your ranged troops. You can attach up to six blazons for unique bonuses.
The Smelter allows you to convert blazons into Blazing Crystals, which are essential for cultivating max-level blazons.
Both features are complex and deserve their own guide, so watch for our upcoming video on blazons and smelters!
Why the Archer Camp Matters
The Archer Camp is a cornerstone of your Evony strategy. Ranged troops are vital for countering mounted units, and a well-upgraded camp ensures you have access to powerful units with enhanced stats. By assigning a Duty General and utilizing blazons, you can maximize your ranged troops’ potential and dominate in both PvE and PvP battles
Tips for Optimizing Your Archer Camp
Prioritize Upgrades: Focus on leveling up your Archer Camp to unlock higher-tier troops and better buffs.
Manage Resources: Ensure you have enough gold and materials to train your desired troop tier efficiently.
Leverage Buffs: Use Duty Generals and blazons to boost your ranged troops’ performance.
Plan Your Army: Balance ranged troops with other unit types to counter ground troops effectively.
Stables
Welcome to another installment of our Learning Evony in Minutes series on troop types at Empire Build Academy! Today, we’re diving into the Stables, the cornerstone for training powerful mounted troops, also known as cavalry or horse units.
Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about the Stables, from upgrading to unlocking elite troops like the Winter Palace Cavalry. Let’s get started!
What is the Stables Building?
The Stables is a key building in Empire Build Academy dedicated to training mounted troops. These cavalry units have a distinct battle advantage over ground troops, making them a critical asset in your army. By upgrading your Stables, you can unlock new types of mounted troops and enhance their performance on the battlefield.
Why Upgrade Your Stables?
Upgrading your Stables offers several benefits:
Unlock New Troops: Higher levels grant access to advanced mounted units, such as the T14 Winter Palace Cavalry at level 35 or the elite Imperial Cavalries at level 40.
Boost Troop HP: For example, upgrading to level 35 can increase mounted troop HP by 10%, making your cavalry more resilient in combat.
Gain Strategic Advantages: Mounted troops deal 20% increased damage against ground troops, making them a go-to choice for dominating ground-based armies.
How to Use the Stables: Key Features
When you click into the Stables, you’ll find familiar options similar to other troop buildings, including Train, Duty, Blazon, and Smelter. Here’s a breakdown of each:
1. Training Mounted Troops
The Train tab allows you to create and manage your mounted troops.
Key features include:
Resource Requirements: Check the resources needed to train your desired number of troops (e.g., 29,000 Winter Palace Cavalry) and the time it takes to complete.
Troop Breakdown: Click the information icon to view detailed stats for your mounted troops, including strengths and weaknesses. For example:Strengths: Mounted troops counter ground troops with a 20% damage buff.
Weaknesses: They take 20% additional damage from ranged troops, which is why the game often emphasizes cavalry-heavy defense and ranged-heavy attack strategies.
Dismiss Troops: Easily dismiss unwanted troops to free up space or resources.
2. Duty Officers: Boosting Your Cavalry
Assigning a Duty Officer to your Stables can provide powerful buffs. For instance, Oleg of Novgorod enhances your mounted troops with unique bonuses.
3. Blazons: Enhancing Troop Performance
Blazons are special equipment that add extra attributes to your mounted troops. There are six Blazon types (three on the left, three on the right), each offering unique buffs. For example, the Soul Shadow Blazon can significantly enhance your troops’ capabilities when equipped as a full set.
Blazons are a complex system, and we’ll cover them in detail in a dedicated video. For now, know that cultivating and equipping Blazons can give your cavalry a competitive edge.
4. Smelter: Crafting Blazon Crystals
The Smelter is where you refine Blazon Crystals, essential for cultivating max-level Blazons. Smelting a cultivated Blazon yields crystals based on its progress, allowing you to further enhance your troops’ power.
Strategic Tips for Mounted Troops
Leverage the Cavalry Advantage: Use mounted troops to dominate ground-based armies, capitalizing on their 20% damage boost.
Counter Ranged Units: Be cautious when facing ranged troops, as they deal 20% extra damage to your cavalry. Pair your mounted units with ranged troops or Archer Generals for a balanced attack.
Upgrade Strategically: Aim for level 35 to unlock the Winter Palace Cavalry and level 40 for Imperial Cavalries to maximize your army’s potential.
Why Mounted Troops Matter
Mounted troops are a cornerstone of Empire Build Academy’s combat system. Their strength against ground troops makes them ideal for defensive strategies, while their vulnerability to ranged units requires careful planning. By upgrading your Stables and equipping the right Blazons and Duty Officers, you can build an unstoppable cavalry force.
Workshop
Welcome to another installment of my “Learn in Minutes” series! Today, we’re diving into the Workshop, a critical building for training and enhancing siege machines in your empire. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting, this guide will walk you through the Workshop’s key features, including training troops, assigning duty generals, managing blazons, and using the smelter. Let’s get started!
What is the Workshop?
The Workshop is your go-to building for constructing and managing powerful siege machines, essential for dominating battles. Upgrading your Workshop unlocks new siege machine types and enhances their capabilities, giving you a strategic edge.
Let’s explore its core functions: Train, Duty, Blazon, and Smelter.
1. Train: Building Your Siege Machine Army
The Train tab is where you create your siege machines, ranging from Tier 1 (T1) to the highest tier you’ve unlocked. For example, if you’ve reached Tier 14, you can train advanced units like Armed Catapults.
Here’s what you need to know:
Troop Details: Click the information button next to each siege machine to view its stats, including buffs and damage modifiers. Siege machines counter each other, dealing 50% increased damage to opposing siege units.
Inventory Check: The Workshop shows how many units you own. For instance, you might have 19,990 Level 10 siege machines ready for battle.
Dismissing Troops: If you no longer need certain units (e.g., T14 siege machines), go to the Train tab, click the information button, and select the Dismiss option to remove them.
Pro Tip: Regularly check your troop tiers and dismiss outdated units to optimize your army’s strength.
2. Duty: Boosting Siege Machines with Generals
The Duty tab allows you to assign a Duty General or Officer General to your Workshop, granting additional buffs to your siege machines. For example, assigning a general like Guan Royal can provide unique stat boosts, enhancing your siege units’ performance in combat.
Note: Duty generals are a complex topic, so stay tuned for a dedicated video in our series that dives deeper into how they work and how to maximize their benefits.
3. Blazon: Enhancing Siege Machines with Powerful Buffs
The Blazon feature is a game-changer for customizing your siege machines. By attaching blazons to your units, you can unlock powerful buffs tailored to your playstyle. For example, equipping the Honesty Shadow Blazon might grant multiple stat boosts, especially if you complete a full set.
How It Works: Attach blazons to the six available slots in the Blazon tab to enhance your siege machines.
Why It Matters: Full blazon sets provide additional bonuses, making your troops even more formidable.
Given the depth of this feature, we’ll cover blazons in a separate video to ensure you understand every detail.
4. Smelter: Crafting Blazing Crystals
The Smelter is where you refine blazons to obtain Blazing Crystals, a crucial resource for cultivating maxing Blazons.
Here’s how it works:
Smelt unwanted or lower-tier blazons to earn Blazing Crystals.
If you smelt a cultivated blazon, the number of crystals you receive depends on its cultivation progress.
Like blazons, the Smelter deserves its own in-depth guide, so watch for our upcoming video on this topic.
Why Upgrade Your Workshop?
Upgrading your Workshop unlocks higher-tier siege machines and expands your strategic options. To see what each level offers, click the Details tab and then the green More Information box for a breakdown of unlockable features.
Quick Recap: Key Workshop Features
Train: Build and manage your siege machine army, from T1 to your highest unlocked tier.
Duty: Assign a Duty General for bonus buffs to your siege units.
Blazon: Equip blazons to customize and enhance your siege machines.
Smelter: Convert blazons into Blazing Crystals for advanced upgrades.
Dismiss: Remove unneeded troops to streamline your forces.
Shrine
Welcome to Empire Builder Academy! In this installment of our Learn Evony in Minutes series, we’re diving into the Shrine, a key building in Evony that offers powerful rewards, resource boosts, and prestige. Whether you’re a new player or a seasoned monarch, understanding the Shrine is essential for maximizing your gameplay. Let’s explore how to use the Shrine effectively, claim daily rewards, offer tributes, and climb the prestige rankings.
What is the Shrine?
The Shrine is a central building in Evony where players can offer tributes to unlock valuable rewards, boost resource production, and gain prestige. Upgrading your Shrine increases the benefits, including higher resource production, longer boost durations, and more prestige points. Let’s break down its key features.
How to Access and Use the Shrine
To get started, locate the Shrine in your city and click on it. You’ll see several options, including:
Details: View the benefits of upgrading your Shrine, such as increased resource production, boost time, and prestige rewards at different levels.
Daily Rewards: Claim rewards every day when you log into Evony. Forgot to claim? Head to the Shrine to collect them manually.
Offer: Offer gems as tributes to boost one of your resource productions, gain monarch experience, and earn prestige. The tribute effect doesn’t stack, but the duration does.
Poem of History: Unlock additional rewards at the start of a server. Note that this feature is completed early in the game and has no further use later.
Maximizing Tribute Rewards
When you offer gems as tributes, you gain monarch experience, prestige, and a temporary boost to one resource type. For example, offering 400 gems might grant 240 prestige points and a resource boost. As you offer more tributes, the gem cost increases (e.g., 600 gems for 300 prestige points), so plan strategically if you’re aiming to climb the rankings.
After seven tributes, the next round of 7-day daily rewards is upgraded, but your tribute count resets to zero. Additionally, offering tributes 20 times unlocks the King’s Protection buff, which provides:
+20% Range Troop Attack
+20% Siege Machine Attack
+20% Mounted Troop Defense
+20% Ground Troop Defense
Track your progress by checking your total prestige points, displayed at the top of the Shrine interface. For instance, accumulating 16 million prestige points could rank you as a Duke, with benefits tied to your VIP level.
Understanding Prestige and Rankings
Prestige is a cumulative score that grows as you offer tributes and play on a server. It determines your rank, which comes with unique buffs and benefits. To check your rank and required prestige, navigate to the Shrine’s Rankings section and select Rank Ranking. Here’s a quick overview of ranks:
Regent: Requires 3 million prestige (3 positions available)
Archduke: 10 positions available
Duke: 40 positions available
Knight: 2,000 positions available, suitable for most players
For example, with 16 million prestige points, you might rank in the top 40 (e.g., 30th place). To reach the top 10, you’d need over 25 million prestige, which requires significant gem investment and dedication. Higher VIP levels, such as VIP 17, unlock exclusive ranks like Honorary Duke.
Tips for Climbing the Shrine Rankings
Strategize Gem Usage: If you’re close to a higher rank, consider investing gems to offer more tributes. For example, offering 400 gems for 240 prestige points can help you edge closer to the next rank.
Monitor Daily Rewards: Log in daily to claim rewards and avoid missing out on free resources.
Upgrade Your Shrine: Higher Shrine levels unlock better rewards and boosts, giving you an edge in resource production.
Focus on Long-Term Prestige: Prestige accumulates over time, so consistently offer tributes to maintain or improve your ranking.
Why the Shrine Matters in Evony
The Shrine is more than just a building—it’s a gateway to boosting your city’s growth and securing a competitive edge. By offering tributes, claiming daily rewards, and tracking your prestige, you can unlock powerful buffs and climb the server rankings. Whether you’re aiming for the top 10 or happy in the top 40, the Shrine is a critical tool for success in Evony
Market
Welcome to the Learn Evony Minute series. In this guide, we’ll dive into the Market Building in Evony, a key feature for managing resources, trading, and boosting your gameplay. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, understanding how to leverage the Market Building can give you a strategic edge. Let’s explore its features, including trading, taxing, black market deals, and auctions, to help you maximize your resources.
What is the Market Building in Evony?
The Market Building is a central hub in Evony where players can trade resources, collect taxes, and access exclusive black market deals. Upgrading your Market unlocks better rewards and more opportunities to grow your empire. Let’s break down its core features.
Key Features of the Market Building
1. Trading and Taxing Resources
The Market allows you to trade resources and collect taxes to boost your stockpile. By clicking on the Market, you’ll see options like Black Market and Tax. Taxing: At higher Market levels, you can collect free taxes multiple times. For example, at level 37, you can tax resources up to 12 times for free. Each tax action provides a batch of resources, such as food, based on your selection. In my case, I have 18 free tax chances, which can yield significant resource gains when used wisely.
Upgrading the Market: Upgrading your Market increases tax rewards and unlocks more features. For instance, moving from level 37 to 38 boosts your tax gains, as shown in the "More Information" section of the game. Check this section to see what each upgrade level offers.
Pro Tip: Prioritize upgrading your Market to maximize resource gains and tax opportunities.
2. Black Market: Exclusive Deals for Gems and Resources
The Black Market is where you can score valuable items, such as stamina or speedups, using gems or resources.
Here’s how it works:
Purchasing Items: Common purchases include stamina packs (e.g., 3,000 stamina) to keep your gameplay active. I often grab these as stamina tends to run out quickly.
Refresh Chances: You get free refreshes (e.g., two free refreshes at my level) to cycle through new item selections. If you run out, you can spend gems to refresh the Black Market inventory.
Rebuy Chances: Each item comes with a limited number of rebuy chances (e.g., five chances per item). These allow you to repurchase the same item multiple times, but each rebuy is for a single item, not the entire batch. For example, after buying stamina, I had four rebuy chances left for that specific item.
Pro Tip: Use the instant refresh button strategically to find high-value items like stamina or rare resources.
3. Duty General: Boosting Market Efficiency
The Market Building supports the assignment of a Duty General, an officer who enhances the building’s performance with special buffs. While we’ll cover Duty Generals in detail in a future guide, know that assigning one to your Market can amplify your resource gains and efficiency.
Pro Tip: Choose a Duty General with buffs tailored to resource management to get the most out of your Market.
4. Auction House: Competitive Bidding Across Servers
The Auction House is a dynamic feature where players from different servers compete to bid on exclusive items, such as speedups or rare resources.
Here’s how it works:
Bidding Process: Items start at a base price (e.g., 3,000 gems for speedups). You can place a higher bid (e.g., 5,000 gems), and other players can counter with even higher bids.
Cross-Server Competition: You’re bidding against players from your server and others, making auctions highly competitive.
Availability: Auctions appear periodically, typically every couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for them.
Unfortunately, auctions aren’t always active, so I couldn’t show an example in-game. However, when available, they’re a great way to snag rare items by outbidding competitors.
Pro Tip: Save up gems for auctions to secure high-value items that can accelerate your progress.
Why Upgrade Your Market Building?
Upgrading your Market is essential for maximizing resource gains, unlocking more tax opportunities, and accessing better Black Market deals. Each level increase enhances your ability to collect resources efficiently and compete in auctions. Check the "More Information" tab in-game to see the specific benefits of each upgrade level.
Council of State
What is the Council of State in Evony?
The Council of State is a central hub in Evony where players can enhance their generals by assigning military titles and utilizing the soul-binding feature. Upgrading this building unlocks more titles and increases your general capacity, allowing you to field stronger armies and gain strategic buffs. Let’s explore its core features.
Key Features of the Council of State
1. Military Titles and the Senate
The Senate within the Council of State allows you to assign military titles to your generals, each granting unique buffs tailored to specific troop types (e.g., ground, cavalry, archers, or siege). These buffs can significantly enhance your army’s performance in battles, both offensively and defensively. How to Assign Titles:Navigate to the Senate in the Council of State.
Choose from titles like Governor, Commander, Marshal, Senator, or Ruling Senator.
Each title provides buffs based on the general’s ascension level (e.g., 4-star or 5-star).
Example: Assigning the Governor title to a general like Salt grants buffs such as:
Increased ground troop defense in-city.
Boosted ranged troop HP and siege machine defense.
Enhanced attacking ground troop attack.
Unlocking Titles:
Some titles, like Ruling Senator, have specific requirements, such as winning Battle of Gaugamela (BOG) and earning 6,000 personal points three times.
Check the lock icon next to a title to view its unlock conditions (e.g., Council of State level 22 or higher).
Upgrading Titles:
Use materials like Merit Jade or Golden Glory Twig to upgrade title levels (e.g., from level 16 to 17).
These materials are rare and often found in higher-tier purchase packs, making them more accessible to high spenders.
Pro Tip: For free-to-play or low-spending players, focus on unlocking and assigning titles that align with your strongest generals and troop types to maximize buffs without heavy investment.
2. Soul Binding: Duplicating General Power
Soul binding is an advanced feature that lets you duplicate the stats of a high-level general onto another, provided they share the same tag. This can be a game-changer for building powerful armies, but it comes with steep requirements and costs.
Soul Binding Requirements:
The initiator general must be:
Level 35 or higher.
Fully ascended to 5-star.
All four original specialties maxed out.
Only generals with the same tag can be bound (e.g., two cavalry generals).
Legendary historic generals cannot be bound.
Each binding requires Binding Essence, a rare resource typically found in premium packs.
How Soul Binding Works:
The acceptor general inherits the initiator’s:
General level.
Original specialty quality.
Refining attributes.
Each soul binding lasts 15 days, with an option to renew 3 days before expiration.
A general can increase their binding capacity by one for each completed binding, up to 10 bindings, after which no further materials are consumed.
Unbinding early refunds a portion of materials based on remaining time, but it doesn’t increase binding capacity.
The initiator’s flexible specialty is not shared with the acceptor.
Challenges for Free-to-Play Players:
Binding Essence is difficult to obtain without purchasing high-tier packs, making soul binding less viable for free-to-play or low-spending players.
The 15-day duration adds to the cost, as renewals require additional resources.
Pro Tip: If you’re a high spender with access to Binding Essence, prioritize binding your strongest generals to weaker ones with the same tag to quickly boost your army’s power. For others, focus on other Council of State features like titles.
3. Upgrading the Council of State
Upgrading the Council of State increases your general capacity and unlocks additional titles.
For example:
At level 21, you might have a general capacity of 70.
Upgrading to level 23, 25, or 27 increases this capacity, allowing you to recruit more generals.
Materials Needed:
Upgrading titles or positions often requires rare items like:
Merit Jade.
Golden Glory Twig.
Radiant Medals or other medals.
Check the specific requirements for each upgrade, as some may require a combination of materials.
Pro Tip: Plan your upgrades carefully, as materials are scarce for non-spenders. Prioritize upgrades that align with your gameplay goals, such as increasing general capacity for larger armies.
Strategic Tips for Using the Council of State
Focus on Titles for Buffs: Assign titles to your strongest ascended generals to maximize buffs for your preferred troop types (e.g., ground or siege).
Check Unlock Requirements: Review the conditions for locked titles (e.g., event participation or building levels) and plan your progression accordingly.
Soul Binding for High Spenders: If you have access to Binding Essence, use soul binding strategically to duplicate the stats of your top generals.
Resource Management: Save rare materials like Merit Jade and Golden Glory Twig for impactful upgrades, as they’re hard to come by for free-to-play players.
Monitor General Ascension: Ensure your generals are at least 4-star or 5-star ascended to fully utilize title buffs and soul-binding potential.
Is the Council of State Worth It for Free-to-Play Players?
For free-to-play and low-spending players, the Council of State offers limited but valuable opportunities:
Assigning titles to ascended generals provides buffs without requiring rare materials.
Upgrading the Council of State to increase general capacity is achievable with standard resources.
However, soul binding and high-level title upgrades are less accessible due to their reliance on premium materials.
For high spenders, the Council of State is a goldmine. Investing in Binding Essence, Merit Jade, and Golden Glory Twigs unlocks powerful buffs and general enhancements, giving you a significant edge in battles.
Arsenal
Welcome to the Learn Evony in Minutes series by Empire Build Academy! In this quick guide, we’re diving into the Arsenal in Evony, a key building for upgrading your troops. Whether you’re a new player or a seasoned strategist, this post will give you a clear overview of what the Arsenal does and how to use it effectively. Let’s get started!
What is the Learn Evony in Minutes Series?
The Learn Evony in Minutes series is designed to break down every building in Evony with short, easy-to-digest guides. Each post (and accompanying video) explains a building’s purpose and functionality. You can find all these guides neatly organized on the construction section of EmpireBuildAcademy.com, my go-to hub for Evony mobile strategy tips. The site is a work in progress, but it’s packed with helpful resources, including detailed Evony guides.
Once this series is complete, I’ll update the website with a simple, user-friendly list of all buildings, each with its video guide at the top. Stay tuned for that!
What is the Arsenal in Evony?
The Arsenal is one of the simplest yet most critical buildings in Evony. Its sole purpose? Upgrading your troops. That’s it—no extra bells or whistles. Located in your city, this building allows you to enhance your troops’ strength, taking them to the next tier for better performance in battles.
How the Arsenal Works
Here’s a quick breakdown of how to use the Arsenal:
Access the Arsenal: In the game, locate the Arsenal building (it may look slightly different on PC versus mobile).
Troop Types: Inside, you’ll see options for upgrading four troop types: Ground, Archers, Cavalry, and Siege.
Upgrade Process: Troops are upgraded one tier at a time (e.g., T10 to T11, then T11 to T12).
Unlike some games where you can skip tiers, Evony requires you to upgrade sequentially.
Resource Costs: Each upgrade requires resources like food, wood, stone, and iron. For example, upgrading from T10 to T11 might cost 23.4M food, 7.5M stone, and 7.5M iron, depending on the number of troops.
Instant Training Option: You can use gems to instantly complete upgrades, but this isn’t recommended unless you’re in a rush, as it can be costly.
Example: Upgrading Troops
Let’s say you’re upgrading T10 Ground Troops to T11. In the Arsenal, select the Ground Troops tab, check the resource cost (displayed clearly), and confirm the upgrade. The interface will show the exact number of troops being upgraded and the resources needed. You can switch between troop types (e.g., Archers or Siege) to upgrade them separately.
Why the Arsenal Matters
Upgrading your troops in the Arsenal is essential for staying competitive in Evony. Higher-tier troops have better stats, making them more effective in battles, whether you’re defending your city or attacking opponents. Plan your upgrades strategically to manage resources and prioritize the troop types that fit your playstyle.

Victory Column
Welcome to the Empire Build Academy’s Learn Evony series! In this guide, we’ll dive into the Victory Column, a crucial building in Evony that can significantly enhance your gameplay. Whether you’re aiming to improve your generals’ attributes, speed up construction and research, or climb the rankings, understanding the Victory Column is key. Let’s explore its features, benefits, and upgrade requirements to help you dominate the game.
What is the Victory Column in Evony?
The Victory Column is a vital building in Evony that provides powerful buffs to enhance your gameplay. By upgrading this structure, you can unlock boosts such as:
Increased General Attributes: Strengthen your generals’ basic stats for better performance in battles.
Construction Speed Buffs: Build structures faster to expand your empire efficiently.
Research Speed Buffs: Accelerate your research to unlock new technologies quicker.
March Time Reduction: Move your troops faster, giving you a strategic edge.
As you level up the Victory Column, these buffs become even more potent, making it a cornerstone of your empire’s growth.
Exploring the Victory Column Features
When you access the Victory Column in Evony, you’ll find a wealth of information and tools to optimize your strategy. Here’s a breakdown of its key features:
Rankings Overview
The Victory Column offers a detailed rankings system, allowing you to track your progress and compare yourself to other players. These rankings include:
General Rankings: See how your generals stack up against others.
Kill Rankings: Measure your combat prowess.
Prestige Rankings: Monitor your overall prestige in the game.
This feature is perfect for competitive players who want to gauge their standing and strive for the top.
General Equipment Insights
One of the standout features of the Victory Column is the ability to view other players’ generals. This is especially useful if you’re building a specific type of general, such as an archer general, and need guidance on equipment. By checking the profiles of higher-ranked players, you can:
See the equipment they’ve equipped on their generals.
Analyze their refining attributes to ensure you’re optimizing your own generals correctly.
Pro Tip: Lower-ranked generals in the rankings are more likely to use equipment similar to what you have, making it easier to replicate their setups.
Glory Achievements
The Glory Achievements section tracks your progress across various milestones, including:
Number of Fully Armed Generals: For example, owning 10 fully equipped generals.
Civilization Equipment Owned: Such as possessing 16 pieces of civilization gear.
Glory of Warrior or Lucky Favor Effects: Triggered 363 times, showcasing your combat success.
This section also displays your server, alliance, and monarch level, giving you a comprehensive overview of your progress.
Why Upgrade the Victory Column?
Upgrading the Victory Column is essential for advancing other key buildings, such as the Senate (also known as the Council of States). For instance, to unlock the next level of the Council of States, you may need to reach Victory Column Level 6. However, upgrading comes with specific requirements, such as:
Owning three out of five epic generals ascended to star level 10. If you’re short on this requirement (e.g., only have three generals at the required level), you’ll need to focus on ascending additional generals to unlock the next Victory Column level.
Meeting these requirements not only boosts your Victory Column but also enhances your overall empire by unlocking higher-tier upgrades for other buildings.
How to Upgrade the Victory Column
To upgrade the Victory Column, you’ll need to meet specific prerequisites, which often revolve around your generals. For example:
General Ascension: Ensure you have the required number of epic generals at the specified star level (e.g., star level 10).
Resource Requirements: Gather the necessary resources to complete the upgrade.
Check the upgrade screen in the game to view the exact requirements for your current level. Prioritize ascending your generals and collecting resources to keep your Victory Column progressing.
Tips for Mastering the Victory Column
Study Top Players: Use the rankings to analyze the equipment and attributes of top generals, especially for roles like archers or cavalry.
Focus on General Ascension: Ascending epic generals to higher star levels is often the key to unlocking Victory Column upgrades.
Leverage Buffs: Prioritize upgrading the Victory Column to maximize construction, research, and march speed buffs for faster empire growth.
Track Achievements: Regularly check your Glory Achievements to stay motivated and monitor your progress.
Wonder
Welcome to the Empire Build Academy! In this guide, we’ll dive into the exciting world of Wonders, a key feature that showcases your cultural glory and unlocks powerful rewards like dragons, advanced equipment, and civilization treasures. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, understanding how to upgrade and utilize your Wonder can elevate your gameplay. Let’s explore the mechanics, requirements, and benefits of Wonders, including glory trophies, civilization equipment, and treasures.
What is a Wonder in Empire Build Academy?
A Wonder is a symbol of your cultural dominance in the game. By upgrading your Wonder, you unlock exclusive rewards, such as dragons, which enhance your strategic capabilities. To get started, locate your Wonder in the game, click on it, and explore the "Details" or "Information" tab to see its current level and upgrade requirements.
Earning Glory Trophies
Glory trophies are prestigious rewards tied to specific achievements. These trophies not only showcase your accomplishments but also unlock higher Wonder levels. Here’s a breakdown of how to earn them:
Glory Trophy: Achieve a top 5 ranking in server war personal rankings. This unlocks Wonder Level 1 and grants unique wings for your profile.
Monarch’s Glory: Become the king, queen, or conqueror of your server twice to unlock this trophy and further Wonder upgrades.
Each trophy has distinct unlocking requirements, displayed in green. Check the Glory tab to view all available trophies and their conditions.
Mastering Civilization Equipment
Civilization equipment is advanced gear that provides powerful buffs to your troops and gameplay. These items can be obtained through grinding, free methods, or by purchasing packs that include scrolls and other unlocking requirements. Here’s what you need to know:
The Koryo Set
One standout example is the Koryo Set, which offers significant buffs like a 50% boost to in-city ranged troop and siege machine attack when fully equipped. To maximize its potential, focus on refining your equipment:
Advanced Refining: Once you achieve gold-level refines on all four slots of a piece of equipment, you unlock advanced refining. This allows you to use daily chances (e.g., 50 chances) and refine stones to boost buffs further. For instance, refining a piece of the Koryo Set can increase your troop attack buff to 19% at level 34, with incremental improvements like an additional 0.5% per refine.
Pro Tip: While the game may display a cost (e.g., 25,000 gold for refining), this is often not deducted, making refining a cost-effective way to enhance your gear.
Unlocking Civilization Treasures
Civilization treasures, such as the Faber Egg, Code of Hammurabi, or Tutankhamen's Dagger, provide unique buffs that activate upon ownership. To upgrade these treasures, you’ll need specific fragments, which can be found in Red Treasure Boxes. Here’s how it works:
Fragment Collection: For example, upgrading the Tutankhamen's Dagger to level 5 requires 350 fragments. Even with 1,610 Red Treasure Boxes, acquiring enough fragments can be challenging due to the luck-based system.
Buff Activation: Treasures have two activation types:Own to Activate: Simply owning the treasure grants its buff (e.g., 35% gathering speed).
Use to Activate: Equip the treasure to activate specific buffs, like an 18% research speed boost.
Pro Tip: Strategically equip treasures based on your current activity, such as research or gathering, to maximize efficiency.
Upgrading Your Wonder: Key Requirements
Advancing your Wonder to higher levels requires meeting specific conditions. For example, to reach Wonder Level 3, you need the Invincible Hero achievement, which involves:
Reaching the top 200 in all servers in one Battle of Constantinople season.
Achieving top 200 in continent rankings in one Ultimate War season.
Placing in the top 400 in all servers or continent rankings four times.
Or ranking in the top 800 in all servers or continent rankings eight times.
Meeting these conditions unlocks the Invincible Hero title, red wings, and a special avatar, enhancing both your Wonder and your profile’s prestige.
Tips for Maximizing Your Wonder
Prioritize Glory Trophies: Focus on achievable ranking goals to unlock trophies and progress your Wonder.
Grind for Equipment: Use free methods to gather civilization equipment or invest in packs for faster progress.
Manage Treasure Fragments: Save Red Treasure Boxes and target specific fragments to upgrade high-value treasures.
Refine Strategically: Aim for gold-level refines to unlock advanced refining, boosting your equipment’s effectiveness.
Stay Active in Events: Participate in server wars, Battle of Constantinople, and Ultimate War seasons to meet ranking requirements.
Learn Evony in Minutes: Mastering the Research Academy
Welcome to Empire Build Academy! In this installment of our Learn Evony mini-series, we’re diving into the heart of your city’s progress: the Academy. This essential building is your key to unlocking powerful technologies and enhancing your gameplay in Evony. Let’s explore how to make the most of the Academy, from researching technologies to navigating the Skill Book Shop, with a focus on the best strategies for beginners and seasoned players alike.
What is the Evony Academy?
The Academy is a cornerstone building in Evony that allows you to research technologies and purchase skill books to strengthen your city. Upgrading your Academy unlocks new technologies, giving you access to buffs and enhancements that improve everything from resource production to troop performance. Whether you’re focused on defense, military might, or resource efficiency, the Academy is where your city’s potential comes to life.
Exploring the Academy’s Features
Let’s break down the two main functions of the Academy: the Skill Book Shop and the Research Tab.
Skill Book Shop: Boost Your Generals
The Skill Book Shop, accessible within the Academy, offers a variety of skill books to enhance your generals’ abilities. You’ll find books for boosts like:
March Speed: Increase the speed of your troop movements.
Troop Attack: Strengthen your army’s offensive power.
Level 2 Maintenance: Improve resource efficiency.
The shop refreshes periodically, so you can check back for new offerings. While skill books can be purchased here, many players find they acquire enough through gameplay without spending heavily in the shop. However, if you’re looking to give your generals an edge, this is the place to do it.
Research Tab: Power Up Your City
The Research Tab is where the Academy truly shines. It’s packed with technology trees that provide buffs across various aspects of your city. The main categories include
Advancement: Focus on efficiency and speed.
Defense: Strengthen your castle’s defenses.
Military: Boost your attacking capabilities.
Medical Aid: Improve healing and hospital capacity.
Alliance: Enhance alliance-related activities like gathering and reinforcements.
Subordinate City: Improve buffs for your subordinate cities.
Recovery: Optimize troop revival and resource consumption.
Military Advance & Defense Advance: Unlock advanced buffs for attacking and defending.
Each category displays a progress percentage, so you can track how far you’ve advanced in each area.
Best Strategy: Prioritize the Advancement Tab
For new players, the Advancement Tab is the best place to start. Why? It offers upgrades that make your city more efficient by:Reducing costs for construction and research.
Speeding up processes like building and training.
Increasing resource production, such as boosting farm output for more food.
For example, researching in the Grazery increases hourly farm production, while other advancements speed up construction or research times. Prioritizing this tab early on ensures your city grows faster and more cost-effectively, setting a strong foundation for future progress.
Other Key Research Tabs
Once you’ve made headway in the Advancement Tab, explore other areas based on your playstyle:
Defense Tab: Buffs your castle’s ability to withstand attacks, such as increasing ranged troop defense.
Military Tab: Enhances your offensive power, perfect for players focused on attacking.
Medical Aid: Boosts hospital capacity and troop revival rates, crucial for sustaining your army.
Alliance Tab: Improves alliance activities like gathering speed and reinforcement capacity.
Subordinate City: Strengthens your subordinate cities (check out our separate guide for more details).
Recovery: Reduces resource costs for reviving troops, particularly in the Holy Palace.
Military & Defense Advance: Unlocks higher-tier buffs for attacking and defending as you progress.
Why the Academy Matters
The Academy is your hub for unlocking buffs that impact every aspect of Evony gameplay—whether it’s fortifying your castle, powering up your troops, or optimizing resource management. By strategically researching technologies, you can make your city more efficient, resilient, and competitive.
Pro Tip: Start Strong with Advancement
To maximize your early-game progress, focus on the Advancement Tab to reduce costs and speed up development. This approach saves resources and accelerates your growth, giving you a head start in Evony. As you progress, balance your research across other tabs to align with your goals, whether that’s dominating in battles or building a thriving alliance.
Mastering the Trap Factory in Evony: Build Defenses and Repair Siege Machines Fast
Welcome back to Empire Build Academy! In this quick Learn Evony in Minutes guide, we're breaking down the Trap Factory—your go-to building for crafting defensive traps and repairing siege machines. Whether you're a beginner fortifying your keep or a veteran optimizing your strategy, understanding the Trap Factory is key to surviving enemy attacks. Let's dive in and see how to unlock, build, and upgrade it like a pro.
What is the Trap Factory in Evony?
The Trap Factory is a crucial defensive structure in Evony that lets you create traps to protect your city and repair damaged siege machines. Upgrading it unlocks more advanced traps and increases your capacity for handling siege repairs. As you level up, you'll access a variety of trap types, each with unique power ratings and resource costs.
From the building's detail menu, you can view:
Unlocked Traps by Level: See what's available at each upgrade tier.
Damaged Siege Machine Capacity: Track how many siege machines you can repair per level.
This setup makes the Trap Factory essential for anyone serious about defense, even if it's not always the flashiest part of your empire-building.
How to Build Traps in the Evony Trap Factory
Building traps is straightforward and mirrors troop training in other barracks. Head to the Build tab in the Trap Factory to get started:
Select Trap Types: Choose from level-specific options, like basic rolling logs at lower levels or advanced explosive traps at higher ones.
Check Power and Costs: Click the Information button for a detailed breakdown of each trap's defensive power and the resources required (wood, stone, food, etc.).
Queue Your Builds: Add traps to your production queue to stockpile defenses against incoming raids.
Pro Tip: Focus on a mix of trap types to counter different enemy units—anti-infantry spikes for ground troops or ballista traps for ranged attackers. Building traps daily also helps knock out easy achievements for extra rewards.
Repairing Siege Machines: Resources and Gems Explained
Siege machines are powerful offensive units, but they take damage in battles. The Trap Factory's Siege Machine Repair tab is where you fix them up:
Repair Process: Use resources (like wood and iron) plus a small gem fee to restore your machines.
Cost Example: Repairing 20,000 damaged siege machines might only cost 2,500 gems—super efficient for the bang you get!
Keep an eye on your siege machine health after rallies or attacks. Quick repairs mean you're always battle-ready without breaking the bank on gems.
Boost Your Trap Factory with Duties and Generals
Want to supercharge your Trap Factory? Assign a general via the Duty tab for bonus buffs:
Specialized Trap Factory Officer: Equip a general with at least 1,250 Defense, 1,200 Attack, and 3.1 million overall Power.
Buff Benefits: Gain production speed boosts, reduced costs, or increased trap power—perfect for scaling your defenses.
If you're new to duties, check our previous Evony guides for more on assigning generals to buildings. It's a game-changer for efficiency.
Trap Factory Strategy: Is It Worth It?
Traps aren't always the star of Evony strategies—many players (including me!) focus on troops and alliances instead. I personally build just a few thousand traps daily to complete achievements and grab those free rewards. But if you're in a hot PvP zone or defending a keep solo, stocking up on traps can turn the tide against attackers.
Prioritize upgrading your Trap Factory early if defense is your jam, but balance it with other buildings like the Academy or barracks.
Mastering the Hospital in Evony: Heal Troops and Boost Defense Fast
Welcome to Empire Build Academy! In this Learn Evony in Minutes guide, we’re diving into the Hospital in Evony—a vital building for healing wounded troops and strengthening your defenses. Whether you're recovering from battles or prepping for the next fight, understanding the Hospital’s mechanics is a game-changer. Let’s explore how to upgrade, heal, and optimize it like a pro.
What is the Evony Hospital?
The Hospital is your go-to structure for healing troops injured in Evony battles. Clicking into the Information tab reveals its core function: it heals and houses wounded soldiers. Upgrading increases capacity—starting at 400,000 and boosted by an additional 1.6 million from sources like the Research Academy. Check the More Information section for a detailed breakdown of capacity gains per level, such as an extra 35,000 at Castle Level 36.
This makes the Hospital essential for sustaining your army, especially during intense PvP or server-versus-server conflicts.
How to Heal Troops in the Evony Hospital
Healing troops is simple and resource-driven. Here’s how to do it:
Access the Heal Tab: Navigate to the heal section to see wounded troops (e.g., 10 troops in this case).
Check Resource Costs: Higher-tier troops require more resources (food, wood, etc.) to heal—plan accordingly.
Heal Instantly: Hit the Heal button to restore your troops and get them back into action.
Efficient healing keeps your army ready, minimizing downtime after skirmishes.
Using Presets for Quick Healing in Battles
A smart trick is leveraging Presets for fast troop recovery, especially during solo attacks. Here’s how:
Set Up Presets: In the rally spot’s March Preset menu, configure a preset (e.g., Preset 6 with 10,000 layers per slot).
Battlefield Advantage: During server-versus-server or Battle of Chalons, switch to this preset to heal layers quickly.
Counter Solo Attacks: If an enemy hits you solo, use the preset to heal and repel their march. It’s less effective against rallies but excels against lone strikes.
This strategy ensures you’re always prepared, turning the Hospital into a battlefield lifesaver.
Boost Your Hospital with Duty Generals
Assigning a Duty General enhances your Hospital’s performance:
Specialized Officer: Equip a general like Skanderberg, a dedicated hospital officer, for extra buffs.
Buff Benefits: With proper upgrades (e.g., matching power thresholds), you’ll gain boosts to healing speed or capacity.
Ascension Perks: Generals like Scanderberg offer additional buffs as they ascend, amplifying your Hospital’s efficiency.
Learn more about duty generals in our previous Evony guides to maximize these bonuses.
Hospital Strategy: Why It Matters
The Hospital’s primary role is to heal troops injured in combat, keeping your army strong. While not as flashy as offensive buildings, it’s a must-have for survival. Upgrade it early to handle large-scale battles, and use presets to streamline healing during solo attacks. For daily play, focus on resource management to keep healing costs low.
Army Camp & Resource Buildings
Increase troop training speed and capacity with the army camp (e.g., 32% speed at level 29). Resource spots like quarries (28,000 stone/hour) and sawmills scale with level—upgrade to 39 for more.
War Hall
Organize alliances with the war hall, boosting rally capacity (14 million for me). Track battle logs and events, though upgrades may not suit casual players due to resource costs.
Watchtower
Get scouting reports and alerts with the watchtower. Upgrade to 37 to unlock defense general info, and adjust alert settings for efficiency.
Art Hall
Collect artworks for buffs at the art hall. Complete general halls (e.g., Tyrant with four generals) and exhibition halls for gold and treasures like Excalibur scrolls (880 fragments needed).
Arsenal
Upgrade troops (e.g., T10 to T11) at the arsenal, though it’s rarely used due to resource demands.
Rally Spot
Set march sizes (2.3 million for me) and presets for battles. Use the hold feature to quickly adjust troop counts—ideal for monster hunts or defenses.
Market
Trade and tax resources at the market. The black market offers deals (e.g., 84,000 ore), while the auction house competes for rare items. Tax 18 times free based on level.
Tavern
Recruit generals (e.g., 0.38% chance for Joan of Arc) and use the wheel of fortune (4.9 million coins for me). Activities yield rewards, with VIP boosts.
Hospital
Heal wounded troops with the hospital, using presets (e.g., 10,000 layers) for quick battlefield recovery.
Embassy
Interact with alliances, with 21 million reinforcement capacity. Duty generals enhance buffs.
Forge
Craft general equipment at the forge (level 35 for best items), requiring specific materials.
Pasture
House dragons and spiritual beasts (e.g., Thunderbird) for buffs. Upgrade to 35 to unlock all, feeding with resources.
Prison
Hold captives for labor resources or prestige (50 per 1,000 released). Capacity: 300,000.
Holy Palace
Recall deserters with horns and revive troop souls, with buffs like 25% death-to-soul rate when defending.
Research Factory
Produce research stones and materials, with crafting for historic medals (e.g., 6,000 from Rage King).
Shrine
Offer tributes for rewards, using king’s protection (20 tributes for 20% buffs) before battles.
Triumphal Arch
Boost rally (6%) and reinforcement (20% in battlefield) capacities at level 2.
Victory Column
Enhance buffs (5% general attributes, 25% construction) at level 5, with council upgrades.
Bunker
Protect 290,000 troops, though rarely used.
Military Academy
Unlock formations and tactics with strong buffs (e.g., 30% HP boost) at higher levels.
Wonder
Unlock dragons and equipment (e.g., Coro set) with event achievements.
Council of State
Appoint titles for buffs (e.g., 4% attack), requiring ascended generals.
Final Thoughts
Buffs from buildings, equipment, and tactics stack to create powerful stats (e.g., 3130 HP, 2931 defense in my PvP report). This guide is part of my nine-step Evony series—next up is research. Just remember, there's no such thing as a flawless culture in the game. It's true that certain cultures may hold certain advantages over others to some extent. Take Korea, for example. Their ability to produce lumber at a faster rate can greatly assist players in constructing more empire structures, resulting in quicker development. However, even with these advantages, there isn't a single definitive best culture in the game.

As a general tip, pick the culture that best suits your goal for the empire. If you want to focus on ramping up food production, then choose Japan. However, if you want to have a better attack rate for your ground troops, pick China.
Building Blocks for Success: Exploring the Essentials of Basic Resources and Buildings
Here are the three vital resources you need to develop your city:
Food: This resource is essential for training troops, whether they are ground, ranged, or mounted. It is also a requirement for constructing buildings in your empire. Food is produced in farms.
Lumber: A primary ingredient for constructing and upgrading buildings, lumber plays a significant role in city development. Saw mills are responsible for producing this resource.
Stone: While not overly important in the early stages of the game, stone becomes crucial as your empire grows stronger. It is mainly used for training high-level troops. Quarries are responsible for producing stone.
Remember, managing these resources effectively will lead to the successful growth and prosperity of your city.
To generate more resources, you have two options: either construct additional facilities or upgrade the existing ones individually. Keep in mind that resource-producing facilities can only be built outside the empire's walls.
To improve buildings, you typically need a specific amount of food and lumber. Occasionally, certain buildings can only be upgraded once your Keep (aka your main headquarters) reaches a particular level. The duration of an upgrade varies, ranging from a few seconds to a few hours, depending on the desired building level. If you're in a hurry, you can instantly complete the upgrade by using gems. Additionally, when you construct a new building, the initial two upgrades are on the house. However, for subsequent upgrades, you'll need to spend diamonds.

Mastering the Craft: Leveraging the Academy to Boost Production Success
Once you've upgraded your buildings with the necessary resources, it's good enough for a while. However, if you want to boost your production efficiency, you'll have to invest in research at the Academy.
The Academy is a special building that allows you to enhance various aspects of your empire internally. All you need to do is spend some gold coins on research. There are eight categories available, each offering a range of fields to delve into. If you're looking to upgrade your resource production, head over to the "Advancement" section.

Keep in mind that you'll need to meet certain conditions in order to unlock further upgrades. These conditions might include reaching a certain level for your Keep or Academy, or even completing one branch of research to a specific level. Each branch can be upgraded a maximum of 10 times, so choose wisely and strategize accordingly.
Gain Extra Resources from Mysterious Puzzles
Resources don't just come from farms, sawmills, or quarries. An awesome way to gather a generous amount of resources is by indulging in a thrilling series of puzzles known as Mysterious Puzzles.
In Mysterious Puzzles, your task is to carefully "pull" pins in a specific order and timing to overcome obstacles that can harm the character. It's like a mini-game that relies on trial and error, so don't hesitate to experiment with different solutions until you find the perfect one.
The ultimate aim is to pave the way for the character to reach a valuable treasure chest and complete the stage. As a reward for your accomplishments, you'll receive resources that can be redeemed later through your handy "Items" feature.

Conquer the Quests: Unleashing Your Inner Adventurer
Conquer the Quests: Unleashing Your Inner Adventurer
The game offers a wide array of main and side quests that come with cool rewards whenever you reach certain milestones in the game. These milestones can vary from levelling up your buildings to a certain degree or training a specific number of troops.
All the resources you earn from completing quests can be conveniently found in your "Items" menu. Alongside resources, quests can also grant you "speedups" which can speed up various processes within the game. Additionally, quests can grant you XP that you can either use to level up yourself or to boost the abilities of your generals.
Detailed Buildings Overview:
Wall: Is there anything more crucial than the mighty wall that shields your empire and keeps the enemy at bay? Nope, not really! Your wall should be at the top of your upgrading list. Besides fortifying your defence, it also offers some extra perks like collecting cool gifts and keeping an eye out for any fishy business.
When you level up your empire's wall, it boosts both the overall defence HP and the capacity of your traps. So, if you've been repeatedly witnessing your cities fall into enemy hands too easily, fret not! Now you know exactly what needs to be done.
Keep: The Keep holds equal, if not greater, importance compared to your wall. It stands tall in the heart of your empire, resembling a massive castle. The Keep always maintains a higher level than any other building.
If your intention is to upgrade buildings that have either matched or come close to the Keep's level, then you must raise the level of your Keep as well. By increasing the level of your Keep, you gain access to new buildings, increase your resources such as gold, expand your general capacity, and much more.
However, be prepared for the fact that upgrading your Keep may require a considerable amount of time to complete. Nonetheless, the end result will undoubtedly prove to be well worth the wait.
Academy: This is the place where you can dig into some serious upgrade research! The Academy is a crucial building for your progress as it empowers your empire with mighty upgrades, enhancing its overall strength. So, if you're eager to level up swiftly, just focus on stepping up your game with the Academy and make frequent use of its incredible potential.

Construction: Other Buildings within Evony
Rally Spot: This is the place where you can amplify the size of your army, ultimately boosting their overall strength. Before diving into a battle, venturing out to explore new territories, or launching an attack on an enemy stronghold, we recommend prioritizing upgrading your soldiers by utilizing the Rally Spot.
Markets: This is the place where you'll find a wide range of resources available for your needs. Don't forget to visit the market daily, as they constantly update the selection with new and exciting additions that can be of great use to you. Inside this building, you'll also stumble upon the exclusive Black Market, where you'll receive enticing special offers that you definitely don't want to overlook.
Embassy: This is also an important building that needs upgrading because you can agree and accept reinforcement from your allies when your city is being attacked. If enemies are attacking your empire often, utilizing the embassy's support will go a long way to help you.

Starting Strong: Which Buildings to Prioritize
The Ultimate Guide to Demystifying Troop Types: Everything You Need to Know!
In the game, you have the chance to recruit different types of Troops from various empires. You'll find an array of amazing options like Japanese Archers and Arabian Knights. Each troop has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. So, as you dive into the game and make progress, you'll have the opportunity to uncover the perfect combination of troops that matches your unique style of play.
Regardless of your troops' training level, it is highly recommended to diversify your army. Having soldiers from various regions proves more effective in defeating enemies compared to relying solely on one troop type. Below you'll find the full list of troop types available in the game:
Archer
Ballista
Battering Ram

Catapult
Cavalry
Pikeman
Scout
Swordsman
Transporter

Rev Up Your Progress: Unleashing the Power of Speed-Ups
Players in Evony, whether they are playing for free or spending real money, have the opportunity to receive numerous Speedups. These Speedups are crucial resources that can greatly enhance your gameplay. However, it's worth noting that the game tends to unintentionally waste these valuable Speedups. Let's say you have 24 minutes of research, and you choose to speed up 20 minutes. In this case, you'll have only 4 minutes of Speedup left.
If you find yourself running low on Speedups, don't worry! You can always reach out to your alliance members and request a few minutes of help. By saving your Speedups and avoiding automatic speeding up of items, you can make the most out of them. The game might automatically use your Speedups on different items without your consent, so it's wise to be cautious.
Moreover, your monarch has the ability to wear a crown that speeds up various tasks by a certain percentage. These crowns are truly remarkable as they can provide you with a permanent 10% or 20% reduction in construction time, troop training, and research. And the best part is, acquiring these crowns can cost as little as 600-800 gems. So, be sure to take advantage of these incredible boosts!
In Evony: The King's Return, your construction efforts lay the groundwork for your empire's rise to greatness. By focusing on the right buildings, strategically placing them, and speeding up construction, you can establish a formidable force to dominate the game. Remember to adapt your strategies as you progress and always keep an eye on the evolving dynamics of the game. Now, it's time to gather your resources, construct your empire, and lead your kingdom to victory!
