Infantry

Infantry units are the go-to soldiers for any player. They're cheap, fast to train, and inherently sturdy. What's more? They are excellent at resisting archers and demolishing city defences. However, beware of cavalry units as they are natural predators to infantry.

Archers

Got an eye for precision? There you have archers!**These long-range units are excellent against infantry and exceptionally adept at sieging cities. But, watch out for cavalry, they'll run your archers down in the blink of an eye!

Cavalry

The cavalry, the swift and the strong! With their exceptional speed and striking power, they can quickly devastate archers and manoeuvre around the battlefield. But, they meet their match in infantry units.

Siege Units

Siege units are the big guns, literally. When it comes to wrecking city defences or plundering resources, these guys don't hold back! Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry! As you play and experiment, you'll soon get the hang of using the right troop at the right time.

How Do I Level Up My Troops?

As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day", same goes for your army. You'll need to build and upgrade structures like barracks, stables, and sniper camps to improve your army's strength. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

To conclude, understanding the various troops in Rise of Kingdoms demystifies the game and sets the stage for a victorious campaign. So, gear up and make your empire rise!

DETAILED TROOPS OVERVIEW

In Rise of Kingdoms, troops, led by Commanders, have various tasks like gathering resources, defending cities, and attacking Barbarians, cities, and buildings.

Infantry troops are strong against Cavalry troops, Cavalry troops are strong against Archer troops, and Archer troops are strong against Infantry troops.

Siege Units have the biggest capacity and are perfect for gathering resources. They are effective against Watchtowers but can be easily taken down by other troop types.

Let's talk about the best troops for new players to focus on!

In this helpful guide, we'll discuss the importance of different troop types and their characteristics, as well as the best strategies for using them, commanders, advantages, disadvantages, and how to choose the right play style for you as a new governor.

Each civilization in Rise of Kingdoms offers unique advantages and strengths, with special units that set them apart. So, when you're starting out, you may be wondering, "Which civilization should I choose?"

Don't worry - all the civilizations are great in their own way. They each have their own special units and abilities that cater to different play styles. The key is to choose the civilization that aligns with the way you want to approach the game.

For Free-to-play players in Rise of Kingdoms, selecting a Civilization based on its special unit is crucial. Whether you prefer Infantry, Archer, or Cavalry, focusing on one type will help you make the most of advanced commanders, technologies, and characteristics unique to that style of play. Juggling multiple specialties can be tough for F2P players, so choose wisely and enjoy building your kingdom!

Civilization based on unit type:

Let's take a look at how different types of units can impact civilization.

Infantry:

Rome

France

Japan

Archer:

Britain

Korea

China

Ottoman

Cavalry:

Germany

Arabia

Spain

Byzantium

In every civilization, siege units remain consistent across the board. However, each unique unit for every civilization comes with its own set of distinct stats.

Infantry:

In Rise of Kingdoms, infantry units are known for their strong defensive capabilities. With high resistance and key stats like Defence and Health, they excel in prolonged battles on the open field and are essential for guarding garrisons in combat. Make sure to pair them with commanders who specialize in defending structures when selecting an Infantry Civilization. Prioritize leaders who can effectively lead and support this unit type!

Infantry is ideal for players who prefer not to spend money in the game. You can easily unlock top-tier Legendary commanders such as Charles Martel and Richard I. Most players who spend money on the game (P2W) tend to focus on cavalry commanders, which are weak against infantry units.

Here are some perks of using Infantry in battles:

Tough and durable: They excel in all kinds of player versus player combat.

Healing abilities: Many Infantry leaders have healing powers, perfect for lengthy battles and protecting garrisons and cities.

Defensive prowess: They are skilled at warding off units and cavalry commanders from attacking forts.

Great for special events: In games like "Sunset Canyon" and "Golden Kingdom", Infantry units are a top choice due to their resilience and ability to hold their ground. So next time you're strategizing for battle, consider deploying Infantry units for a solid defence!

Downsides of Infantry:

Slow Movement: Infantry units are not the quickest when it comes to running away or chasing in open fields.

Not Ideal for PVE Events: Infantry commanders lack the "Peacekeeping" ability and are slowed down due to their weaker damage against neutral units. However, they do have great resilience.

Low Damage Output: Compared to the other two types of units and specializations, infantry units and commanders have the lowest damage per unit.

Infantry Commanders:

Richard I

Constantine I

Alexander the Great

Charles Martel

Leonidas I

Guan Yu

Harald Sigurdsson

Zenobia

Sun Tzu

Eulji Mondeok

Archer:

Archers are considered the most versatile special unit among the three types available! They excel in PVP, PVE, and are great for both defending and attacking garrisons and cities. This is all thanks to the unique skills of some of the Archer commanders.

The main strength of archers lies in their damage-dealing abilities. However, they lack strong defences, so the resilience of their troops depends on the commander chosen and the buffs provided.

One downside is that none of the four archer civilizations have a commander specialized in leading archers. Don't let that discourage you though, as with the right strategy and tactics, archers can still be a powerful force on the battlefield!

When selecting a Civilization in Rise of Kingdoms, remember to save your commander sculptures for leaders who enhance archers. Archers may be slow and more vulnerable than other units, but their damage output is impressive. With the right commanders, archers can become a force to be reckoned with!

Downsides of Archers:

Archers have low resistance against cavalry in open-field combat, making them vulnerable to these swift opponents.

Many Archer commanders focus on offense, which can leave them lacking in defensive capabilities for prolonged battles.

Archer Commander:

Artemsia I

El Cid

Edward of Woodstock

Ramesess II

Tomyris

Yi Seong-gye

Hermann

Kusunoki Masashige

Keira

Cavalry:

The cavalry in Rise of Kingdoms is a completely offensive unit, they have great damage and resistance in addition to one of their main attributes, March speed.

If you choose a cavalry Civilization, you will be lucky enough to have 3 Epic commanders leading cavalry for the beginning of the game, they will be very helpful for F2P players who decide to choose this game mode.

The cavalry is specialized in open-field combat and the conquest or attack on cities and garrisons.

Cavalry not ideal to defend any type of structure.

Their commanders, the vast majority, are focused on destroying and devastating everything in their path. They are Conquerors, capable of causing many casualties to any defence and this is their main power, the large-scale rally attack.

The cavalry unit is super speedy and perfect for chasing down enemies or making a quick getaway during a battle in open fields. However, in this combat mode, they will be held back by the infantry.

Since their attack is focused on a single target, it's not the best idea to charge into a crowd of enemies. Just keep that in mind for your next battle strategy!

Benefits of Cavalry:

Speedy and Hard-Hitting: These units are quick on their feet and dish out serious damage, making them a force to be reckoned with in both player versus player and player versus environment scenarios.

Versatile: Whether you need to destroy enemy cities or conquer garrisons, cavalry has got you covered. Their flexibility makes them a valuable asset in any combat situation.

Powerful Commanders: Cavalry commanders are the cream of the crop when it comes to conquering. Their skills and abilities make them the most formidable leaders in the game.

Balanced Stats: With top-notch attack, health, and defence stats, cavalry units are well-rounded and reliable in any battle. No matter the situation, you can count on them to deliver.

Challenges of Cavalry:

Ineffectiveness in Garrison Defence: Cavalry units and their leaders may struggle to effectively protect garrisons.

Susceptibility to Infantry in Open Fields: Cavalry units may be at a disadvantage when facing infantry in open-field battles.

Cavalry Commanders:

Attila

Cao Cao

Genghis Khan

Minamoto no Yoshitsune

Takeda Shingen

Saladin

William I

Chandragupta Maurya

Baibars

Belisarius

Pelagius

THE T.E.B.A. TROOPS GUIDE FOR NEXUS WAR

Siege:

Vulnerable yet valuable, these units are easy targets but pack a punch when it comes to collecting resources or raiding enemy cities. In Rise of Kingdoms, we may not have specific commanders for them, but some leaders offer skills and improvements tailored for siege units. You can boost their Gathering or Support abilities through talent specializations. So while they may not be the toughest, they sure are versatile!

Benefits of Siege Units:

Excellent for resource collection: These units have a high load capacity, making them perfect for gathering resources efficiently.

Effective for raiding enemy cities: Use siege units to successfully loot resources from enemy cities.

Drawbacks of Siege Units:

Slow movement: Siege units may move slowly on any route they take.

Ineffective in combat: These units are not recommended for both player versus player (PVP) and player versus environment (PVE) combat situations.

Vulnerable to attacks: Siege units are susceptible to attacks from other unit types.

Remember, Siege units are primarily designed for gathering resources on the map.

Here are some super awesome commanders who excel in "Gathering" resources:

Cleopatra VII

Ishida Mitsunari

Seondeok

Matilda of Flanders

Joan of Arc

These commanders are experts at gathering resources efficiently.
