I Fully Ascended the New Evony General Marcian, But..
If you’ve ever wondered how many Epic General Tokens it really takes to fully ascend a premium general in Evony, this is the real, unfiltered answer.
After over a year of saving (roughly 13 months), I finally decided to go all-in on one of the newest and most powerful ranged generals in the game — Marcin.
What happened next… was frustrating, eye-opening, and honestly a bit painful.

Saving 13 Months for One Moment
Like many long-term Evony players, I made a decision a long time ago:
👉 Don’t spend anything. Save EVERYTHING.
That meant:
Epic General Tokens
Resources
Chests
Upgrade materials
The goal?To eventually go after a fully ascended 5-star premium general in one go.
The last time I attempted something like this was with Marcus Agrippa — and that was a long time ago.
This time, I came prepared.
Total Tokens Saved: 190
Why I Chose Marcin
Marcin had just been released during the Easter event, and as with all new generals in Evony, he had boosted drop rates:
Up to 15.15% drop rate in premium tokens
Higher than any other general in the pool
On top of that:
He’s a top-tier ranged general
I already had the required covenant generals
He fits perfectly into my long-term PvP and battlefield strategy
On paper… it made perfect sense.
The Plan (And Expectations)
Going into this, I had heard:
Some players completed it in 60–80 tokens
Others took around 100 tokens
So realistically, I expected:👉 Around 70 tokens to get all 16 copies
That would have left me in a great position to:
Start working on a ground general
Or even a siege general
But… that’s not what happened.
The Reality: Terrible RNG Start
The opening started horribly.
First 11 tokens → 0 copies
Then 17 tokens → finally 1 copy
At that point, things were already looking rough.
You could feel it going wrong early.
Midway Point: Slight Recovery… Then More Pain
Things improved briefly:
Around 22 tokens → 4 copies
Around 50 tokens → 9 copies
At this stage, it looked like things might balance out.
But then…
👉 20 tokens in a row with ZERO Marcin copies
That completely killed the momentum.
Final Result: 110 Tokens Needed 😡
After all the ups and downs, here’s the final outcome:
Total Tokens Used: 110
Total Copies Required: 16
Final Result: Fully Ascended (5-Star) Marcin
Yes… it took 110 tokens.
The Real Cost (If You Paid for It)
Let’s break this down in real-world terms.
1 Historic General Pack ≈ £99.99
With triple rewards: ~3 tokens per £100
To reach 110 tokens, you’d need roughly:
👉 £3,600 – £4,000+
That’s the true cost of bad RNG in Evony.
Key Lesson: NEVER Go In Underprepared
This experience completely changed my approach.
If I had only saved:
60 tokens ❌
80 tokens ❌
Even 100 tokens ❌
👉 I would NOT have completed the general.
New Rule:
Always save at least 110+ tokens before attempting a full ascension.
Anything less is a gamble.
Fully Ascended Marcin – The Payoff
Despite the frustration… the end result is still huge.
✅ What I Achieved:
Fully ascended 5-star Marcin
Strong ranged buffs for PvP & events
Covenant bonuses activated
Long-term viability (2+ years of use)
This general will now:
Improve battlefield performance
Boost server vs server results
Increase overall account strength
What’s Next?
Because of how expensive this was in tokens:
I now have less than 100 tokens remaining
I won’t attempt another general until I hit 110+ again
Even with saved fragments, the next push will take time.
Final Thoughts: Was It Worth It?
Emotionally?👉 Frustrating.
Strategically?👉 100% worth it.
This is the reality of Evony:
RNG can be brutal
Preparation is everything
Patience pays off (eventually)
