Genghis Khan – “The founder and Great Khan (emperor) of the Mongol Empire.”
Genghis Khan Evony Guide 2026
Genghis Khan is an older utility-focused combat General in Evony: The King's Return.
He is best suited to:
• large attacking marches
• Mounted PvP as a secondary role
• Alliance War rallies
• secondary combat marches
• F2P and low-spend accounts needing an accessible march-size General
• General Hall collection
His biggest strengths are:
• March Size +15% from his base Special Skill
• additional March Size from Specialties
• Rally Capacity through Ascension
• simple always-active march utility
• Tavern accessibility
• General Hall value
His biggest weakness is combat power.
Genghis Khan does not provide the huge Attack, Defense and HP packages found on modern premium combat Generals.
His defining advantage is troop capacity, not raw buffs.
Is Genghis Khan Good in Evony?
Genghis Khan is useful, but mainly because of March Size.
His Special Skill provides:
• March Size Capacity +15%
whenever he is leading the army.
That affects any troop type in his march.
This gives him flexibility, but it does not automatically make him a top Ground or Mounted General.
His Specialties lean toward Mounted Troops, so Mounted is the most natural combat direction if you actually use him.
Genghis Khan Best Role
Best Role: Large March / Utility PvP
Best Combat Focus: Mounted PvP
Also Good For:
• Alliance War rallies
• secondary Ground/Mounted marches
• General Hall collection
Avoid Heavy Investment For:
• endgame Mounted PvP
• endgame Ground PvP
• Main City Defense
• Monster Hunting as a specialist
Genghis Khan should be treated as a flexible utility General rather than a modern troop-type specialist.
Genghis Khan Special Skill
Genghis Khan's Special Skill is:
The Great Khan
When Genghis Khan is leading the army:
• March Size Capacity +15%
This is a clean and useful effect.
More March Size means:
• more troops
• more total damage
• more total HP
• more total Defense
• more troops benefiting from your account-wide buffs
March Size can therefore be extremely valuable even when the General's own combat buffs are modest.
Genghis Khan Ascension
Ascending Genghis Khan adds general-purpose combat and rally utility.
1 Star
• Attacking Troop Attack +5%
This applies broadly to troops in an attacking march.
2 Stars
• Enemy In-City Troop Wounded into Death Rate +8%
This increases offensive pressure when attacking enemy Keeps.
3 Stars
When Genghis Khan launches an Alliance War:
• Rally Capacity +6%
This gives him some rally-leader utility.
4 Stars
• Attacking Troop HP +10%
This improves survivability across the attacking march.
5 Stars
• Attacking Troop Attack +10%
This adds another broad offensive increase.
Genghis Khan Specialties
Genghis Khan has four Specialties.
Mounted Troop Assault
• Mounted Troop Attack +10%
• Mounted Troop HP +10%
This is the clearest indication that Mounted Troops are his natural combat focus.
Annihilation
• March Size Capacity +6%
• Attacking Mounted Troop Attack +10%
• Attacking Ground Troop Attack +10%
This improves both his March Size and his Ground/Mounted flexibility.
King's Ambition
• Troop Death into Troop Soul Rate in the Main City +10%
This is a niche effect and is not the main reason to build him.
Battle of Bukhara
• March Size Capacity +10%
• Enemy Wounded into Death Rate +10% when attacking
Battle of Bukhara is Genghis Khan's standout Specialty.
It reinforces his two strongest themes:
• bigger marches
• more punishing offensive PvP
How Much Native March Size Does Genghis Khan Get?
Genghis Khan gains:
• March Size +15% from The Great Khan
• March Size +6% from Annihilation
• March Size +10% from Battle of Bukhara
That gives:
31% native March Size
when fully specialised.
If you also use a Lv4 March Size Skill Book:
• March Size +12%
his personal contribution becomes:
43% March Size
before account-wide bonuses are added.
This is the main reason Genghis Khan remains interesting.
How Much Rally Capacity Does Genghis Khan Get?
At 3-Star Ascension, Genghis Khan gains:
• Rally Capacity +6%
when launching an Alliance War.
This is useful for coordinated Alliance PvP.
However, dedicated modern rally Generals can provide much stronger overall combat packages.
Best Skill Books for Genghis Khan
If you use Genghis Khan with Mounted Troops, a sensible PvP build is:
• Lv4 Mounted Troop Attack
• Lv4 Mounted Troop HP
• Lv4 March Size
This gives:
• more Mounted damage
• more survivability
• an even larger march
Another option is:
• Lv4 Mounted Troop Attack
• Lv4 Mounted Troop Speed
• Lv4 March Size
if engagement speed is more important to your setup.
Alternative Ground Build
Genghis Khan can technically lead Ground Troops because:
• The Great Khan works with any troop type
• Annihilation adds Ground Attack +10%
However, his Ground support is very limited.
If you insist on using him for Ground PvP, use:
• Lv4 Ground Troop Attack
• Lv4 Ground Troop HP
• Lv4 March Size
But a dedicated Ground General will usually perform much better.
Why Mounted Is the Better Combat Focus
Genghis Khan's Specialties provide:
• Mounted Troop Attack +10%
• Mounted Troop HP +10%
• another Attacking Mounted Troop Attack +10%
That gives him more direct Mounted support than Ground support.
Current specialist databases also classify Mounted as his strongest troop type.
That makes Mounted the cleaner TEBA recommendation.
[H2] Genghis Khan for Mounted PvP
Genghis Khan can lead a Mounted PvP march.
His developed kit can provide:
• large March Size
• some Mounted Attack
• some Mounted HP
• broad attacking Attack
• broad attacking HP
• Rally Capacity
• Enemy Wounded into Death
The problem is raw stat depth.
Modern Mounted Generals provide much larger amounts of:
• Mounted Attack
• Mounted Defense
• Mounted HP
• March Size
• Dragon or Beast bonuses
Genghis Khan should therefore be viewed as a backup or transitional Mounted General.
Genghis Khan for Ground PvP
Genghis Khan can also lead Ground Troops because his base March Size applies universally.
However, his only meaningful Ground-specific Specialty bonus is:
• Attacking Ground Troop Attack +10%
That is far too little to make him a serious modern Ground specialist.
If your current TEBA page lists his Best Role as Ground, I would update that.
Mounted or general March Size utility is a much cleaner fit.
Genghis Khan for Alliance War Rallies
Genghis Khan has some natural rally value.
He provides:
• large March Size
• Rally Capacity +6%
• Enemy Wounded into Death
• broad attacking buffs
This can be useful for newer or mid-game rally leaders.
However, endgame rally players should use stronger modern rally-focused Generals when available.
Genghis Khan and Enemy Wounded into Death
Battle of Bukhara provides:
• Enemy Wounded into Death Rate +10% when attacking
His 2-Star Ascension also adds:
• Enemy In-City Troop Wounded into Death Rate +8%
These mechanics make successful city attacks more punishing.
They do not increase basic troop damage directly, but they can increase the number of permanent enemy losses.
Does Genghis Khan Need a Dragon or Spiritual Beast?
No.
The Great Khan has no Dragon or Spiritual Beast requirement.
That makes his main March Size bonus easy to activate.
Do not assign a valuable combat Dragon to Genghis Khan purely to make an older utility General more competitive.
Those assets are usually better used on stronger long-term Generals.
Best Assistant Generals for Genghis Khan
If you use him with Mounted Troops, choose an Assistant that adds:
• Mounted Troop Attack
• Mounted Troop HP
• Mounted Troop Defense
• March Size
• useful attacking buffs
If you use him mainly for a huge march, prioritise an Assistant that strengthens the troop type you are actually sending.
Always verify Special Skill compatibility in-game before investing heavily.
Equipment and Refines
For Mounted PvP, a standard build is:
Spear
• Mounted Troop Attack % x4
Ring
• Mounted Troop Attack % x4
Armor
• Mounted Troop Defense % x4
Boots
• Mounted Troop Defense % x4
Helmet
• Mounted Troop HP % x4
Leg Armor
• Mounted Troop HP % x4
However, do not spend premium refining resources on Genghis Khan if you expect to replace him soon.
[H2] Is Genghis Khan F2P Friendly?
Yes.
Current sources list Genghis Khan as available from the Tavern for:
• 30,000,000 Gold
That makes him relatively easy for F2P and low-spend players to obtain.
Accessibility is one of his main practical advantages.
Genghis Khan and the General Hall
Genghis Khan is required for:
• Invincible Ares
in General Hall I.
That means he has collection value even if you eventually stop using him in combat.
Do not dismiss him before checking your General Hall progress.
Is Genghis Khan Worth Ascending?
Usually not as a high priority.
His Ascension adds:
• Attacking Troop Attack
• Attacking Troop HP
• Rally Capacity
• Enemy Wounded into Death pressure
These are useful.
However, Blood of Ares is scarce.
Genghis Khan should only receive serious Ascension investment if:
• you already use him heavily
• you lack stronger Generals
• your main PvP Generals are already developed
• his large March Size solves a specific account need
For most established accounts, stronger combat Generals deserve priority.
Is Genghis Khan Worth Specialties?
Battle of Bukhara is useful because it gives:
• March Size +10%
• Enemy Wounded into Death +10%
Annihilation also gives:
• March Size +6%
That means his full Specialty tree can push his native March Size very high.
However, Runestones are expensive.
If you only need Genghis Khan for General Hall or occasional use, do not fully specialise him.
Is Genghis Khan Still Relevant in 2026?
Yes, but mainly because March Size ages better than small troop-specific buffs.
His native:
• March Size +31%
when fully specialised is still useful.
His combat buffs, however, are modest.
Current specialist data puts his max Specialty-based Mounted buffs at only around:
• Mounted Attack +30%
• Mounted HP +10%
before Ascension and Skill Books.
That is nowhere near modern premium Mounted Generals.
Is Genghis Khan Worth Investing In?
Genghis Khan may be worth using if:
• you are F2P or low-spend
• you need a very large march
• you obtained him early from the Tavern
• you need a backup Mounted General
• you lead Alliance rallies
• you need him for Invincible Ares
Avoid major investment if:
• you already have strong modern Mounted Generals
• you already have strong modern Ground Generals
• Blood of Ares is limited
• Runestones are limited
• you are refining endgame equipment
How to Obtain Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan is available from the Tavern.
Current sources list his cost at:
• 30,000,000 Gold
He is also required for the Invincible Ares collection in General Hall I.
TEBA 2026 Reality Check
The old TEBA page is a little confused about Genghis Khan.
It lists:
• Best Role: Ground
but later describes him as excelling in:
• Mounted PvP
The modern data makes the cleaner interpretation obvious.
Genghis Khan is not really a top Ground or Mounted specialist.
He is a March Size General.
His real headline is:
• 15% March Size from The Great Khan
• 6% March Size from Annihilation
• 10% March Size from Battle of Bukhara
for:
31% native March Size
when fully specialised.
That is the part of his kit that still stands out.
[H2] TEBA Verdict
Genghis Khan is an older utility-focused PvP General built around massive March Size.
His base Special Skill provides:
• March Size +15%
His Ascension adds:
• Attacking Troop Attack
• Attacking Troop HP
• Rally Capacity +6%
• Enemy In-City Wounded into Death
while his Specialties add:
• Mounted Attack and HP
• additional Ground and Mounted Attack
• March Size +16%
• Enemy Wounded into Death +10%
His biggest strengths are:
• 31% native March Size when fully specialised
• simple always-active Special Skill
• some rally utility
• Tavern accessibility
• General Hall value
His biggest weakness is raw combat strength.
Modern Ground and Mounted Generals dramatically outperform him in troop-specific buffs.
For F2P and low-spend players, Genghis Khan can still be a useful large-march or backup Mounted General.
For established accounts, his main value is March Size and collection progress rather than endgame combat power.
