Probus is a powerful Siege Machine PvP General in Evony: The King's Return.

Released during the 2026 Wine Festival, he is built almost entirely around Siege Machine combat and immediately arrives with extremely high Siege buffs.

His main strengths are:

• Siege Machine Attack

• Siege Machine HP

• Siege Machine Defense

• attacking Siege buffs

• March Size

• Covenant bonuses

• strong late-game scaling through Ascension and Specialties

Probus is best suited to players building a serious Siege PvP march.

He is not designed as a general-purpose beginner General or Monster Hunter.

Probus Base Stats

At base, Probus has:

• Leadership: 130

• Leadership Growth: 9.16

• Attack: 133

• Attack Growth: 9.54

• Defense: 128

• Defense Growth: 9.01

• Politics: 113

• Politics Growth: 8.01

• Base Power: 20,641

His Attack growth is particularly strong and fits his role as an offensive Siege General.

At release, Probus is temporarily unavailable from the Tavern.

Is Probus Good in Evony?

Yes.

Probus is an extremely strong Siege PvP General.

His base Special Skill alone provides:

• Siege Machine Attack +65%

• Siege Machine HP +65%

• Siege Machine Defense +50%

when he is leading the army.

That is an enormous starting package before Ascension, Specialties, Covenant, equipment or an Assistant General are added.

His design is also very clean.

Almost everything in his kit pushes him toward one job:

leading an attacking Siege march.

Probus Best Role

Best Role: Siege PvP

Also Good For: Siege Rallies

Avoid Using For: Monster Hunting, Ground PvP, Mounted PvP or ordinary duty roles

Probus should primarily be developed as a Main General for an attacking Siege march.

Although he gains some Ranged Troop bonuses through Ascension and Specialties, those are secondary.

His core identity is Siege.

Probus Special Skill

Probus' Special Skill is:

Expel Barbarians

Increases Siege Machines' Attack and HP by 65% and Siege Machines' Defense by 50% when General is leading the army.

This is an exceptionally strong base Special Skill.

The important condition is:

when General is leading the army.

That means Probus needs to be actively leading the march to provide his core buffs.

Probus Ascension

Probus can be fully Ascended to five red stars.

His Ascension adds even more Siege strength.

1 Star

• Siege Machine Defense +15%

• Siege Machine HP +15%

2 Stars

• Attacking Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%

3 Stars

• Siege Machine Attack +25%

• Siege Machine Defense +20%

• Siege Machine HP +20%

4 Stars

• Ranged Troop Attack +20%

• Ranged Troop HP +20%

• Siege Machine Attack +20%

• Siege Machine HP +20%

5 Stars

• Attacking Siege Machine Attack +35%

• Attacking Siege Machine Defense +35%

• March Size Capacity +10%

His fifth Ascension star is particularly strong.

It adds another major block of attacking Siege Attack and Defense while also increasing March Size Capacity by 10%.

Probus Specialties

Probus has four Siege-focused Specialties.

Siege Machine Assault

At maximum level:

• Siege Machine Attack +10%

• Siege Machine HP +10%

Bash

At maximum level:

• Ranged Troop Attack +10%

• Siege Machine Attack +10%

Siege Machine Ares

At maximum level:

• Siege Machine Attack +10%

• Siege Machine HP +10%

• Siege Machine Defense +10%

Reclaim Gaul

At maximum level:

• Attacking Siege Machine Attack +65%

• Siege Machine Defense +50%

• Siege Machine HP +50%

Reclaim Gaul is the standout Specialty.

A further 65% attacking Siege Attack combined with 50% Defense and HP makes Probus scale enormously once his final Specialty is completed.

Probus Covenant

Probus also has access to the Covenant system.

His Covenant provides another substantial layer of Siege bonuses.

The available Covenant effects shown at release are:

War Covenant

• Siege Machine Defense +10%

Cooperation Covenant

• Siege Machine Training Speed +10%

Peace Covenant

• Attacking Siege Machine Attack +10%

Faith Covenant

• Siege Machine HP +10%

Honor Covenant

• Attacking Siege Machine Defense +10%

• Attacking Siege Machine HP +7%

Civilization Covenant

• Siege Machine Attack +15%

• March Size Capacity +10%

The Civilization Covenant is particularly valuable.

Siege Attack plus another 10% March Size directly strengthens his primary PvP role.

Taken together, the Covenant system makes Probus considerably stronger than his already impressive base skill suggests.

How Strong Are Probus' Total Siege Buffs?

Probus has extremely high theoretical Siege potential.

Before even considering equipment, refines, Assistant General buffs or other account systems, his kit can stack large amounts of:

• Siege Machine Attack

• Siege Machine Defense

• Siege Machine HP

• attacking Siege buffs

• March Size

The largest gains come from:

• Expel Barbarians

• 3-Star Ascension

• 5-Star Ascension

• Siege Machine Ares

• Reclaim Gaul

• Covenant

This makes Probus a General designed for developed Siege accounts rather than casual mixed marches.

Best Skill Books for Probus

Because Probus is brand new, Skill Book compatibility should be tested in-game before committing Lv4 books.

The priority stats for a Siege PvP build are:

• Siege Machine Attack

• Siege Machine HP

• Siege Machine Defense

• Siege Machine Range Bonus

• March Size

A potential build should prioritise the strongest compatible combination from those stats.

Do not force a Skill Book simply because it looks correct on paper.

If Probus' Special Skill blocks a specific Siege Skill Book, use another high-value Siege or March Size option instead.

Best Assistant General for Probus

Because Probus has only just been released, confirmed pairing compatibility is more important than rushing to declare one Assistant as the definitive best option.

A strong Assistant should ideally add:

• Siege Machine Attack

• Siege Machine HP

• Siege Machine Defense

• March Size

• Siege Range

• useful attacking buffs

without conflicting with Expel Barbarians.

Always test the pairing in-game and confirm both Special Skills remain active.

This is especially important with new Evony Generals because older pairing lists will not yet include Probus.

Should Probus Be Main or Assistant?

Probus looks particularly attractive as a Main General.

There are several reasons:

• huge base Siege buffs

• excellent Ascension

• enormous fourth Specialty

• Covenant

• strong base Attack stat and growth

• March Size bonuses

Using him as Main also allows you to develop:

• equipment

• refines

• Dragon or Spiritual Beast

• Ascension

• Specialties

around him as the centre of the Siege march.

His Assistant potential will depend on compatibility with existing premium Siege Generals.

Probus Equipment and Refines

For a high-tier attacking Siege march, prioritise percentage-based Siege refines.

A standard direction is:

Weapon

• Siege Machine Attack % x4

Ring

• Siege Machine Attack % x4

Armor

• Siege Machine Defense % x4

Boots

• Siege Machine Defense % x4

Helmet

• Siege Machine HP % x4

Leg Armor

• Siege Machine HP % x4

The exact equipment set will depend on which Civilization Gear or other high-end pieces your account already owns.

Do not replace a highly refined existing Siege set simply because a new General has been released.

The General and equipment should be developed as one system.

Probus for Siege PvP

Siege PvP is Probus' clear primary role.

His strengths include:

• huge Siege Attack

• excellent Siege HP

• strong Siege Defense

• high March Size potential

• very strong Specialty scaling

• additional Covenant buffs

Siege marches operate differently from Ground, Mounted and Ranged marches.

Range, troop tier layering, enemy Siege strength, debuffs and march composition all become extremely important.

That means Probus is strongest in the hands of a player who already understands Siege combat.

Probus for Siege Rallies

Probus also looks extremely well suited to Siege rally leadership.

His combination of:

• high Attack

• survivability

• March Size

• attacking Siege bonuses

fits large offensive Siege marches very well.

However, the actual rally result will still depend heavily on:

• Rally Capacity

• participant troop quality

• research

• gear

• refines

• debuffs

• buffs from other city systems

A premium General cannot compensate for an underdeveloped Siege account.

Probus and Ranged Troops

Probus receives some Ranged bonuses through his kit.

Most notably, his 4-Star Ascension gives:

• Ranged Troop Attack +20%

• Ranged Troop HP +20%

and Bash provides Ranged Troop Attack.

However, this does not make Probus a Ranged General.

Those buffs should be treated as useful secondary support.

His overwhelming focus remains Siege Machines.

Is Probus Good for Defense?

Probus has excellent Siege stats, but his design strongly favours leading a march.

His fifth Ascension specifically adds attacking Siege buffs, and Reclaim Gaul also adds a major attacking Siege Attack bonus.

That makes him better suited to offensive Siege PvP than being treated as a dedicated Wall General.

A purpose-built Main City Defense General will normally provide broader defensive value.

Is Probus Good for Monster Hunting?

No.

Despite his very high Attack buffs, Probus should not be developed primarily for bosses or monsters.

Mounted Troops remain far better suited to conventional Monster Hunting.

Using premium Siege resources on a monster build would waste the reason Probus exists.

Is Probus Worth Ascending?

For a serious Siege account, potentially yes.

His Ascension is very strong.

The standout upgrades are:

• 3 Stars for another large Siege stat package

• 4 Stars for extra Siege Attack and HP

• 5 Stars for Attacking Siege Attack and Defense plus March Size

However, because Probus is a brand-new premium General, accessibility matters.

Do not assume that unlocking one copy means you should immediately commit to full Ascension.

First determine how realistically additional fragments can be obtained.

Is Probus Worth Investing In?

Probus is worth serious consideration if:

• Siege PvP is one of your primary combat styles

• you lead or participate heavily in Siege rallies

• you can obtain enough fragments to Ascend him

• you already own strong Siege equipment

• your Military Academy Siege Research is developed

• you have the resources to finish his Specialties

• you can make meaningful progress on his Covenant

He is less attractive if:

• you rarely use Siege

• you are still developing your first serious PvP march

• your Siege Research is weak

• you cannot realistically Ascend him

• investing in him would interrupt a nearly completed existing Siege pair

Probus F2P Reality

For F2P and low-spend players, Probus needs to be judged very carefully.

His maximum numbers are outstanding.

But maximum numbers are not the same as realistic account value.

A Probus with:

• low Ascension

• unfinished Specialties

• weak Covenant

• mediocre Siege gear

may provide less real-world value than an older General your account has already developed properly.

Do not abandon a completed Siege project simply because Probus has larger theoretical buffs.

Accessibility should decide the investment.

Probus 2026 Release Verdict

Probus has launched as an extremely powerful Siege PvP General.

His base skill alone gives:

• Siege Attack +65%

• Siege HP +65%

• Siege Defense +50%

and his later systems push those numbers much higher.

The combination of:

• strong Ascension

• Reclaim Gaul

• Covenant bonuses

• March Size

gives him serious late-game potential.

The remaining question is not whether his numbers are strong.

They clearly are.

The important questions are:

• how accessible his fragments will be

• which premium Siege Generals he pairs with

• which Skill Books remain compatible

• how he compares once fully tested in live PvP

TEBA Verdict

Probus is one of the most aggressively Siege-focused Generals released in Evony in 2026.

His raw Siege buffs are exceptional, and his Specialties, Ascension and Covenant all reinforce the same role rather than pulling his build in different directions.

For established Siege players, he deserves serious attention.

For F2P and low-spend players, do not be blinded by the maximum percentages.

Wait until you know whether you can realistically Ascend and complete him.

A finished Siege General remains more useful than an exceptional new General sitting at one copy.
