Sigurd – “A semi-legendary Viking warrior and Danish king.”
Sigurd Evony Guide 2026
Sigurd is a powerful Ranged Troop General in Evony: The King's Return.
He is best suited to:
• Ranged PvP
• Ranged rallies
• reinforcing allies
• Ranged-heavy defensive play
• large Ranged marches
His biggest strength is flexibility.
Sigurd provides strong Ranged Attack and HP while also adding useful Ranged and Siege Defense.
Because his core Special Skill is not restricted only to attacking, he keeps much more of his value when reinforcing or defending.
Is Sigurd Good in Evony?
Yes.
Sigurd is a strong Ranged General because his Special Skill provides:
• Ranged Troop Attack +45%
• Ranged Troop HP +45%
• Ranged Troop Defense +30%
• Siege Machine Defense +30%
when he is leading the army.
That gives him a strong balance of damage and survivability.
His lack of a major Skill Book restriction is another useful advantage.
Sigurd Best Role
Best Role: Ranged PvP
Also Good For: Reinforcing and Ranged Defense
Avoid Using For: Dedicated Siege PvP or Monster Hunting
Sigurd should primarily be built around Ranged Troops.
His Siege Defense is useful secondary support, but his offensive identity is clearly Ranged.
Sigurd Special Skill
Sigurd's Special Skill is:
Snake-in-the-Eye
Increases Ranged Troops' Attack and HP by 45% and increases Ranged Troops' and Siege Machines' Defense by 30% when General is leading the army.
The important advantage is that this skill is not attack-restricted.
That gives Sigurd genuine flexibility in:
• offense
• reinforcing
• defensive Ranged marches
Sigurd Ascension
Ascending Sigurd strengthens his Ranged march further.
1 Star
• Ranged Troop Attack +10%
• Ranged Troop Defense +10%
• Ranged Troop HP +10%
2 Stars
• Marching Ranged Troop Death into Wounded Rate +8%
3 Stars
• Ranged Troop Attack +10%

4 Stars
• Ranged Troop Attack +8%
• Ranged Troop Defense +8%
• Ranged Troop HP +8%
5 Stars
• March Size Capacity +10%
• Ranged Troop Attack +30%
The fifth star is especially valuable because it adds both a large Ranged Attack increase and March Size.
Sigurd Specialties
Sigurd has four Ranged-focused Specialties.
Ranged Troop Defense
• Ranged Troop HP +10%
• Ranged Troop Defense +10%
Bash
• Ranged Troop Attack +10%
• Siege Machine Attack +10%
Ranged Troop Ares
• Ranged Troop Attack +10%
• Ranged Troop HP +10%
• Ranged Troop Defense +10%
King of Denmark
• Ranged Troop Attack +50%
• Ranged Troop Defense +30%
• Ranged Troop HP +30%
King of Denmark is the standout Specialty.
It adds a huge block of Ranged Attack while also significantly improving Defense and HP.
Best Skill Books for Sigurd
Sigurd has no major restriction on the standard Ranged build.
A strong Ranged PvP setup is:
• Lv4 Ranged Troop Attack
• Lv4 Ranged Troop Range Bonus
• Lv4 March Size
This gives him:
• more raw Ranged damage
• better engagement range
• more troops per march
Another strong option is:
• Lv4 Ranged Troop Attack
• Lv4 Ranged Troop HP
• Lv4 Ranged Troop Range Bonus
if you prefer more survivability.
Best Assistant Generals for Sigurd
Current TEBA pairing data includes:
• Ragnar
• Franz Joseph I
• Algernon Sidney
Sigurd is also used as a compatible partner for several other Ranged Generals across TEBA's current General list.
The best Assistant should ideally add:
• Ranged Attack
• Ranged HP
• Ranged Defense
• March Size
• useful attacking buffs
without disabling Snake-in-the-Eye.
Always test the exact pairing in-game before committing expensive resources.
Sigurd + Ragnar
Ragnar is one of Sigurd's strongest natural partners.
He provides substantial Ranged offensive strength and works well in a dedicated PvP march.
Sigurd + Franz Joseph I
Franz Joseph I provides excellent Ranged Attack, Defense and HP.
This pairing creates a very balanced Ranged setup with strong survivability.
Sigurd + Algernon Sidney
Algernon Sidney is another strong Ranged option.
His more attack-focused profile can complement Sigurd's flexible always-active buffs.
Equipment and Refines
For Ranged PvP, prioritise percentage-based Ranged refines.
A standard setup is:
Bow
• Ranged Troop Attack % x4
Ring
• Ranged Troop Attack % x4
Armor
• Ranged Troop Defense % x4
Boots
• Ranged Troop Defense % x4
Helmet
• Ranged Troop HP % x4
Leg Armor
• Ranged Troop HP % x4
For high-tier Ranged marches, percentage refines are generally preferred over flat refines.
Sigurd for Ranged PvP
Ranged PvP is Sigurd's strongest role.
His kit provides:
• strong Ranged Attack
• very good Ranged HP
• strong Ranged Defense
• native March Size
• no major Skill Book restriction
• flexible always-active core buffs
Ranged Troops are especially effective against Mounted-heavy enemy formations.
However, they can struggle badly against strong Ground marches.
Scout first and use the correct matchup.
Sigurd for Reinforcing
Reinforcing is one of Sigurd's strongest secondary uses.
His core Special Skill remains active while he is leading the army.
That means he keeps:
• Ranged Attack
• Ranged HP
• Ranged Defense
when reinforcing another city.
This gives him more reinforcement value than Ranged Generals whose best buffs only work while attacking.
Sigurd on Defense
Sigurd can also perform well in Ranged-heavy defensive situations.
Because Snake-in-the-Eye is always active while he leads, his core Ranged buffs remain available when defending.
That gives him genuine defensive flexibility.
However, he should not automatically replace a dedicated Wall General.
His strongest use remains as a Ranged march General.
Sigurd and Siege Machines
Sigurd provides:
• Siege Machine Defense +30%
through his base Special Skill.
Bash also gives:
• Siege Machine Attack +10%
This gives him some secondary Siege utility.
However, he should not be treated as a dedicated Siege General.
His strongest offensive scaling remains overwhelmingly focused on Ranged Troops.
How Much March Size Does Sigurd Get?
Sigurd gains:
• March Size +10% from 5-Star Ascension
That is useful, although March Size is not the main defining feature of his kit.
If you also use the Lv4 March Size Skill Book, his troop capacity becomes stronger still.
His main strengths remain balanced Ranged stats and flexible use.
Is Sigurd Still Relevant in 2026?
Yes.
Newer Ranged Generals now have higher theoretical ceilings, but Sigurd remains useful because:
• his core buffs are always active
• his Ranged Attack is strong
• his Ranged HP is excellent
• his Ranged Defense is good
• he has no major Skill Book restriction
• he has native March Size
• he pairs with several strong Ranged Generals
• he can reinforce effectively
That flexibility gives him good staying power.
Is Sigurd Worth Ascending?
Yes, if Ranged PvP is one of your main combat styles.
His Ascension adds:
• more Ranged Attack
• more Ranged Defense
• more Ranged HP
• March Speed
• March Size
The fifth star is especially valuable.
The main question is whether you can realistically obtain enough fragments to complete him.
Is Sigurd Worth Investing In?
Sigurd is worth investing in if:
• Ranged PvP is one of your main troop types
• you value always-active core buffs
• you regularly reinforce allies
• you can obtain enough copies to Ascend him
• you want clean Skill Book flexibility
• you have a compatible Ranged Assistant
He is less attractive if:
• you already have a much stronger fully developed Ranged pair
• you cannot Ascend him meaningfully
• you specifically want the highest possible attack-only ceiling
• your premium resources are needed elsewhere
TEBA Verdict
Sigurd is a strong and flexible Ranged PvP General.
His base Special Skill provides:
• Ranged Attack +45%
• Ranged HP +45%
• Ranged Defense +30%
• Siege Defense +30%
and his Ascension and King of Denmark Specialty push his Ranged performance significantly higher.
His biggest advantage is flexibility.
Unlike many attack-only Ranged Generals, Sigurd keeps his core buffs while reinforcing or defending.
For players who already have him developed, Sigurd remains a very capable Ranged Main or Assistant in 2026.
